Just thought I'd share with you my success at polishing out some scratches that have been in the side of the car that were "acquired" just after we got it.

Mixture of bush pin stripes and my partner getting a bit friendly with a pole.

Before
85348

After

85349

Used Autoglyn resin polish and paint restoration for the deeper ones. Surprised me how much it got out.

Nice job. But once you start you have to do the whole car........

Very good Parkes! How long did it take you and did you do it by hand or with an orbital polisher?

Is that a pink mobile phone cover?;). Nice work and a finish so good you can see your reflection in it.:)

Did it all by hand, took less time than I would have thought, say that door took about 5 to 10 minutes and it was by far the worst. It was rather hot in the sun so I think that hastened up the drying time quite a bit.

I wouldn't want to use the paint restorer with an orbital as its good for the small targeted spots and gets the scratches out pretty quickly, less than a minute per scratch

Nice job. What colour is your car? I've got some similar pinstripes on mine I want to get rid off. Not sure about using these products on metallic paint (Laguna teal) I think I read somewhere it make metallic paint go dull??

Cheers

I bought a scratch removal kit from Aldi on the weekend to have a go at the pinstripes on my doors, I'll post the results up here once I have had a chance to try it out.

Yeah I have mine a polish over the weekend. Looks mint now. The advice I was given was with the tan leather to clean it with Glass Cleaner. I forget what brand it is, it's the generic looking can. Couldn't believe how easy and simple it cleaned. Got all grubby marks off the door trim and seat!

Thanks mate, colour is Havana Brown. Doesn't always look brown but depends on what angle the light hits it. Yeah I think I remember reading that somewhere but I don't think it made a difference to the lustre. The paint has a lot of metallic sparkle in it. Will try and grab a photos at the right angle. I reckon if you go a bit nuts on the cutting agent and really thin out the clear it might get dull but if you take it easy you should be ok

I did my leather (dark brown) with the Autoglyn leather cleaner and it's come up great. Have an 18 month old and all the food marks came of well
