series II water pump

G'day all, Does anyone know the part number for the earlier type of water pump? I presume it is the earlier type as the thermostat housing on my engine is flat on the bottom as opposed to being angled. (series II ?)
All I can find info on is the nine hole pump, but mine is a nine hole also, just a different shape.:(
I think the engine (car) was manufactured about 1961.
Any information greatly appreciated.

The thermostat housing bolts onto the head. The water pump bolts onto the timing cover. The two can be replaced indepently of each other, so the style of one does not dictate the style of the other.

the early water pump is an 8 bolt

From what you're describing I'd have thought it would be an 8 hole pump. Rocking horse droppings are more commonly found nowadays so best to get a new shaft/bearing/impellor assembly fitted.
But if it's 9 hole then just an easily available, off-the-shelf water pump.

I have a IIA diesel engine in the corner of the shed, its looking like the way to go.
The seriesII might be worth something to a collecter £££££££ ;)
