recently bought a 2001 hse that has no cruise control.main switch on dash appears to be working (light comes on when depressed) but no joy from steering wheel buttons?

any ideas? fuse maybe?

I have the same 2001 HSE as yours, also had the same problem you describe.
When you are driving over 40 k/ph, do you hear an audible click when you hit the set button?
On mine it turned out to be the vacuum switch on the brake pedal.
If you remove the trim panels under the steering wheel, you will be able to see two switches activated by the brake pedal, one is the stop lights, the other has a vacuum tube attached.
There is a little plunger that can be reset by pushing it in and releasing, which may be your problem.
I had to replace that switch, not an expensive part, under $30 from memory.
As soon as the new switch went in it has been working perfectly ever since.
Could also be a leaky hose somewhere, here's a link to a previous thread on my experience, hope that helps!

Hi and welcome.

Check the vacuum hose under bonnet first.

Get a copy of the Rave CD from Dave's Shop . Its full of info.

thanks for the reply. i tried the set button but it doesnt seem to be making a clicking sound when depressed.

will have a look at the plunger tomorrow
