A 430-horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission in a Defender !!!!!
And away goes the relaxed driving.

Why?

Sounds like an expensive and dumb way to die.

I totally agree with you AnD3rew. An even more powerful insane 520hp defender has also been built.

Yep I would rather put a 3litre diesel in a Defender.

If I want a sports car I want it to look like a sports car.

That would be an awesome vehicle. Plenty of power & torque, for any situation. I'd love it. Awesome for cruising in the big Aussie open spaces.
Like any vehicle with a bit of grunt, Ya've just gotta respect it.
I'd love it, Pickles.

Another Defender who will end up in a derelict state in 10years somewhere in a industrial parking.
It makes sense for comps but for everyday road a good Rover v8 will give you the same buzz. m

Done that over 6 years ago. That car had a 3.5 to start then 4.5JE, followed by a 5.2JE and 2007onwards a LS Gen4. Hence my comment about comparing.m

You get more torque from a 3.0 sdv6 in stock tune and it arrives a lot sooner than 4,600rpm. As for power, you need almost 6krpm to see that. Probably good for throwing mud but not much else.

The article is completely silent on what they've done to make it handle such power and the resulting speed. Wheels aren't big enough for monster sized brakes. If they tighten up the suspension to cope then it becomes a bit useless offroad.

Not my cup of tea sorry. Now, if it had a tweaked Cummins in it then Id be in! :D

How about....... "Just a little bit of harmless fun and a trifle overdone."
Or................... "Just for ****s a giggles"

Life is sometimes meant to be fun, search You Tube for the "Roadkill" series of video, classic case of "Hmm what if we put this engine in that car, wonder how that would go" :p

Reminds me of when I was in my early twenties a mate had a pretty good EH sedan shell for sale cheap, I had a 400HP 265 Hemi ........... yea seemed like the natural thing to do, fit Hemi into EH and go cruising.......... Ahh so much fun back then :D

I just feel the big V8 and auto thing has been completely done to death. It's pretty hard to get excited about another chev v8 and auto being thrown in something.

I have thought about doing it in the past the LS makes good cheap power bit if I was doing it a turbo would be a must.
