Just wondering if anyone has installed a roll over hoop or cage in a 110 please?

If so, does anyone know who makes these?

The roof is of course like cheese!

Sorry about the poetry! Purely accidental!

Cheers,

Pete. :)

Agreed the roof is nasty

They are expensive in my opinion

Just had my NAS 110 cage delivered from Defender Tuning this week! Excited to put it on once back home.
Expensive? Hmm, I have build a several cages over the years from touring to comp style and still believe you are best of buying a SD if it suits your requirement. Most people I have seen who think cages are too expensive and could be DYI build (on the cheap) still driving without one even after years. Their choice. m

You should be able to get simple roll over hoop made locally. Supported on the chassis members or better 2 hoops connected but you may run into troubles regarding roadworthy. m

SD have FINALLY brought their Puma 4 point internal rollcage to market.
So new that none have been sold yet but it looks very good.
Just have to find an engineer who will sign off on it.

Sorry Pete757 but working interstate means I will be able to post some pictures of the parts but it will take me a few R&R's to get it mounted. I will keep you updated and I attached a pic of a cage I build. Similar to the NAS.m

Looks great!

Interesting, I am curious, can you explain how any vertical forces would be transmitted downwards direct to the chassis rails using body mounting points? I guess I was anticipating the hoops being somehow tied directly to the chassis rails...?

Cheers, Pete :)

The external cage goes down on the front and rear chassis outriggers, the centre hoop only on the reinforced part of the body. The NAS 110 8 point cage has an additional hoop behind the seats. Yes, they are not fully supported on the chassis but still offer some protection IMO.
Internal cages can be chassis mounted in a much easier way but for touring the external suits me better/enough. m

Do you actually have them engineered in WA?
Have thought about buying one but it looks like you loose the snorkel on the external cage.

Guess most external cages pass as 'roof rack system'... Don't worry about mounting a snorkel as long as you got a flexi one, but I have even seen one piece snorkels fitted to cages. m

That looks like a real solution!

I wonder how something like this now gets approval in Australia??:o

Pete,

I have an 8 point cage by SD fitted to my vehicle albeit imported like that, I simply took it in for inspection and they recommended an engineer for inspection, gave him the specs I sourced from SD who were excellent considering the vehicle is 18 years old, he inspected and signed off, both the DOT and engineer were very impressed and made the statement anything engineered for a Defender is better than original ie not much...

Cheers

Tim

Anyone know if its possible to fit one of these and retain my TJM side step/brush bars ?

Anyone in Brisbane area happen to have a SD cage fitted to a 130?
