Is there any need to use a winch rope blanket with synthetic rope?

In a word, no. It would often save interference and dark muttering from sideline experts to use something. The stored energy in a synthetic rope is virtually zero.
You should still maintain a healthy respect for any recovery gear whilst in use - idiocy and injuries are not just close in the dictionary :D

That's exactly what I thought -just confirming. Thanks.

The only faults I could see were the angles created when they were using the snatch block for change of direction to get a straight pull up the centre of the track.
At those angles above 90 degrees the tension on the cable doubles, i.e. the load being pulled was say 1 1/2 tonnes, the load on the cable either side of the snatch block would be 3 tonnes each side. Which means the load on the snatch block/tree anchor strap would be 6 tonnes, it was not mentioned, but should have been, anchor strap loads should be mentioned as loads on this part of the rigging setup are usually the highest in the system, otherwise a good lesson, Regards Frank.
