There pushing for the A380 Neo, plus theres talk of a stretched version.
It suits a different segment of the market, thats why its hugely popular just have to look at the stats for each airline flying it on % of seats full per flight.
Compared to how many of the new 747 flying its more likely the Jumbos days are nearly over.

A Jumbo is any widebody passenger aircraft, not just a 747.

Strange to think i have a Pan Am certificate commemorating the first 747 flight to Australia, my parents were on it.
Even stranger, been in the Concorde simulator at Toulouse :D
Anyone else been in a commercially registered Caribou ( Mandated Airlines )

My Caribou flights weren't commercial but by god they were monotonous.
I did a four day maintenance trip from Darwin to Learmonth in a Caribou in Summer. We all took turns flying to relieve the boredom.

I would have to disagree, the 747 has always been called a Jumbo/Jumbo Jet.
If you looked at a A340 would you say theres a jumbo?
If you looked at a 777 would you say Jumbo jet?
Interesting to see if Boeing have the rights to the world Jumbo Jet? or is it just something thasts stuck with the plane since day one.
Airbus push the Term A380, not A380 Jumbo.

I suspect the high forehead ay have contributed to the nick name
What's forgotten is the original design was for a military transporter, which Boeing lost the comp, hence the unusual cockpit location to facitate doors in the nose.

It's NOT hugely popular.......thats why I put it up.
Airbus may yet withdraw production.

I read recently also that they are not selling what they need to sell despite one carrier acting as their lifeline. The Neo version was said to be unlikely because of the huge development costs for relatively negligible sales.
