Hi guys,
About 6 months ago I had a TRS chipped MSB ECU installed into my 2001 Td5 manual Discovery, since then, I have noticed what seems to be an anti-stall-like feature causing the car to accelerate off when crawling offroad in low range... I've spoken to a few people in the game, and the consensus seems to be that it must be some kind of over-zealous, anti-stall.
The thing is, it doesn't do it exclusively at near-stall, and is quite unnerving when negotiating steep descents.
Has anyone experienced anything similar?
The car did nothing of the sort when running a stock tune... I drove it for 4 years like that, and around the farm before that (pre-license).
The power-curve of the ECU also seems very 'staged', like as though power comes on in bursts as you rev it out through a gear.
Weird...

Hi mate,
I to have a Trs ecu, mine tends to do that in second gear while cruising along at about 20kmh, when you take ur foot off the gas, just before it stalls it picks up the revs and you need to either put it in neutral or use the clutch. Is this similar to your symptoms?
I also have a slight miss around the 2000rpm mark like a bit of a flutter, have you noticed this before?
I've recently purchased a NNN flashable Ecu in order to get it running abit smoother.
Cheers

Hi, as 2001 was the tranzition year from 10P(Eu2) to 15/16P(Eu3) engines tell me please what kind of engine do you have(the AAP sensor in the airbox has 3 or 4 pins ?) and what number is the MSB ECU cos it's important(e.g. is it MSB101330 ?)

That is usually down to over zealous tweaking of the smoke maps on the 700rpm and 730 rpm range. The revs drop below idle the ecu dumps in a dollop of fuel, the revs surge and the vehicle shoots forward.

That answer was for the OP who seems that he ignored me then you came in but as i dont know the MY of your car i couldn't tell you more, you said your's is MSB101330, is that the original one untouched or original chipped or replacement chipped? ... what are the last 8 characters of your VIN? these 101330 ECUs were used in that tranzition year 2001(from 10P to 15/16P) and there were some mapped for the 10P engines and other for the 15/16P ones but one would not work well for the other is you see what i mean

MR LRs td5 is a 10p motor.
If Bronson got his ecu from TRS then they operate on an exchange basis, unchipped MSB for chipped MSB

Sorry guys, currently in Japan and didn't get around to pulling the ECU out to read numbers! My car is 10p, as Cameron said.
I've spoken to TRS and they are happy to replace it, or I may change it for a NNN and get a custom map with no smoke/anti-stall settings (or at least tone them down).
