The hitch box on my D2a measures 54mm (or 2 1/16") square but the towbar tongues available all seem to be 50mm (or 2") square. I have two here that I have tried and they make horrible noises at low speeds due to the sloppy fit. Anyone sourced a decent tongue to suit the size or just used a packer with the 50mm one?

Doesn't your hitch have a bolt in the side to clamp the tongue into the receiver to stop that?

I just spotweld a strip of 50mm wide 1/16 thick to 2 sides and lightly linish to fit tightly . No more rattles.

Doesn't exist on the D2.

I have the same issue. Factory 4" drop tongue is a better fit, but I'm using a 2" drop with a bit of extra length to carry the Tregg that the kamper's hitched to ... doesn't really make any noise at any speed due to the higher ball weight. It sits solid as there's plenty of down force on the tongue (Kimberley Kamper)

Is it OK from a strength point to weld some thin plate to each side ??

... or, as the OP asked ... ??

Thanks Ron.

Probably not too hard to do to the D2. My D-Max factory bar has a single bolt/nut at 45deg in the corner of the hitch reciever which applies pressure against the corner of the hitch, but from your video link the idea of a side at the rear and a bottom at the front makes good sense.

... but I don't have a rattling issue as there's a decent weight on the KK drawbar. This will be one of those when I get around to it mods! :)

Thanks.
