We have purchased a new 2015 Land Rover Discovery 4 in January. Can someone tell me what type and where to buy mirrors to attach to the vehicle's mirrors in order to tow a caravan.

Hi, search for Brunsgaard mirrors. Kel Olsson from Perth is the Aussie agent and is very obliging. The 4 point system is best. From my experience these are the best clamp on towing mirror assembly systems. Better than milenco, better then the genuine LR product, better than ORA. Spend a bit of time searching here as well as caravan forums.

I have the same problem Bernie. I have just upgraded from a 2010 to 2015 D4. I used Millenco mirrors successfully for over 25,000kms with no problems on the old car. However the mirror shape has changed on the MY15 and the edges of the mirror are sloping now. I havent tried yet but i suspect i may have problems. The lower edge still seems to be flat so i will to see if that works.

How did it go fitting these to the bottom edge?
I have the MY15 and so the same issue with the mirror design

Hi, I havent tried yet. I will give it a go in the next few days and report back. i am not towing anywhere for a while so will only be able to say if they fit. It will be interesting to see how we go as i dont really wont to swap from the Millencos as i like them.

G'Day Everyone,
I have a MY14 which I believe has the same shaped mirror as a MY15.
I have Milenco Aero mirrors which have travelled about 4,000 km with no issues - the trick is ordering the 'Falcon' clamps.
Sure there is some vibration and the clamps do at first look like they will give way after about 20m but, touch wood, I haven't had any issues on highways, gravel and dirt roads.
HTH,
RickO

Ok... I have done some experimentation with my Millenco mirrors on a MY15.
The 2015 mirrors are a different shape. The inside top edge is a slight wedge shape rather than flat as on my previous 2014 Discovery.
I first tried the bottom edge as it still seems flat. The mirrors fitted fine. However when you lock the car and the mirrors fold in the inside clamp bolts wedge against the door and stop the mirros folding. I wouldn't live with that as i would be concerned it wil do something to the mirror folding mechanism.
I then tried moving the inner clamp outwards until it didnt hit the door when the mirrors folded. I had to move the clamp until there was only about 1.5cm separating the clamps. I suspect that would make it difficult for the clamps to hold the mirrors in place.
I then tried clamping to the top edge expecting this not to work. However a mix of the millenco clamps flexing a little and also having a slight angle on them and the mirror edge also flexing a little seemed to make it viable.
I did 25000kms around Australia with the 2010 disco and millencos without a problem. I have complete confidence with that setup. However i would need to do some road testing to say that they work on the MY15 mirrors.
Looks like i will have to do another lap around the country soon. :D At this stage i couldnt confidently recommend the setup for a MY15. They fit but will they stay on? Sorry i cant provide a more solid answer.

I am not sure how the Disco mirror surround compares with the current RRS but your description of the upper edge sounds the same. I couldn't achieve a secure fit with Milencos using the falcon clamps, they just kept falling off, and this is in the shed. To use the Milencos on the top edge I reckon one way might be to press some fine, say abt 2mm stainless 'pegs' thru the mirror surround such that they protrude a small amount above and below and drill a small recess in the milenco mountings to suit. This would give a sort of positive engagement and might stop them walking off the mirror surrounds.
I gave up with this though and the Milencos are sitting on the shelf in the shed. I went the Brunsgaard way which I have finally worked out how to fit correctly. And they are secure.
Cheers, Simmo

Yes, I purchased the Milenco Falcon units, useless, fell off in the driveway.
Which Brunsgaard mirrors did you get and how did you make them stay on?

Guys I bought a $50 set from BCF.
You can probably find them on their website. They stay on adequately. I passed semi-trailers doing $1.10 on the Pacific Highway and they survived.
But they don't have the worlds best vision. I can see out the back of our van but not awesome vision.
Hey for $50 they are not too bad and may be something you consider.

Petersen, if you Google brunsgaard you will get a site in Perth WA Kel Olleson is the bloke who runs it, a very honest and obliging fellow from my experience. The 4 point mirrors for the disco 4, but email him and describe the mirror housing shape. He will supply the bits and pieces you need, I was lucky to have him drop in on a traveling visit where he personally fitted the mirrors. As he said, the last mirrors I will need, unless they are taken out by an emu or a road train, the latter may also require a new car.

Just fitted our set of Brunsgaard mirrors today. We purchased them based on the feedback on this forum. Excellent design and they have a special kit for the deeper mirrors on the D4, ours is a MY15 but no different from previous models I am sure. Instructions are great and supported by a helpful video. The word "quality" springs to mind with every piece and the highly flexible design. If anyone is going to kill them we will given our tours normally take us over 20,000km off bitumen each year towing the camper but our initial view is what a great product. Updates once we get back from a three month run into the Kimberley and WA then back to SA

I have a 2014 D4 SE. Needed mirrors just before Christmas to tow the van. I asked some questions on the caravanners forum but didn't get response in time. Took a punt and bought the Milenco Aeros. Found out that the standard clamps didn't work on the D4. The bezel on the 2014 D4 is quite angled and when trying to clamp the mirrors on they basically wind them self straight off the mirror! I did some more research and found on the Milenco home site about how the Milenco's for the D4 and RRS need a different clamp from Falcon mirrors. With only a few days before Christmas that was never going to happen. I did some searching and I found a suggestion about using rubber erasers.
What I did was purchase some rubbers from Woolies. With a Stanley blade I cut the rubber in half then each half I then sliced in a wedge shape. I superglued these rubber wedges to the lower clamp of the Milenco so that it marries perfectly to the bezel profile on the inner part of the D4 mirror. End result is that the mirrors clamp beautifully. Do not move. Very secure. The use of the rubber eraser is great because it's soft enough to conform the be bezel profile and grabby enough to make a secure clamp. Not going to bother with getting Falcon mirror clamps, the rubbers work great.
Just travelled down from Bathurst to Bright with the mirrors on. Worked perfectly. Didn't budge. Great viewing.
I let CaravansPlus know that the Milenco's don't fit all cars (as their website previously said) so that have added the extra info I passed on. That being said, they were quite happy to take the mirrors back if I had wanted to do that so no issues there.
I've used the mirrors a few times now and they don't budge. Not going to bother paying extra for Falcon Clamps. Will try to post a pic.

Rob Yes, I must admit I doubted the attachment method would work, but I had a look at a mirror today at the C & C show, and they look the goods. The hooks get a good firm purchase on the mirror casing. I will have another look on the weekend ( back up there )

As per an earlier post here, i had some concerns about the Melinco mirrors staying on. Over the Easter break we did about 700kms with them fitted. I did them up tight and had no problems. There was one large truck carrying plenty of head wind to test if they were stable.
So i will stick with them for now.

A quick update on our Brunsgaard mirrors after an interesting Easter run to the Southern Flinders Ranges. It took a couple of minor adjustments to get them to fit perfectly but accomplished that with a few short runs around town but this fine tuning is quite important.
Headed up the main drag at 110 with plenty of buffeting from B-Doubles with no problems at all, virtually vibration free which is amazing given how light they are but obviously quite efficient through the air.
On the way back to Adelaide on Monday we had >50kph head and cross winds. We were using 2000 rpm at 100kph whereas normal revs would be around 1000rpm and chewing through the fuel at an indicated 17-22l per 100 to give you an idea of how ruddy strong the winds were. End result is no problems, no movement and no noise. Quite a wrap from us which is a reflection of the feedback from other users of the product on this forum

Purchased 2 Brunsgaard mirrors at the C & C show. Had a test run to Nannup and back the next weekend. No issues whatsoever, after the disaster of the Milenco's.
Once set up, the mirrors fit on in seconds ( literally ) and this could be their only drawback. The mirrors come off so easily, I can see they are in real danger of disappearing, if the vehicle is left in an isolated area. Luckily they come off so fast, it is no drama to remove them and stow behind the seat.
