I thought this might be interesting.
Revotec Electronic Fan Conversion Kit - TD5 (http://www.paddockspares.com/revotec-electronic-fan-conversation-kit-td5.html?utm_source=Paddocks+Spares+Customer+List+ 2011&utm_campaign=2b98b02fe0-Feb+26th+Newsletter+%2810%25+Off+Revotec%29&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_ef75ccf2ec-2b98b02fe0-312946917&mc_cid=2b98b02fe0&mc_eid=edd640ae18)
From previous experience. Electric fans just don't have the power to pump enough air to cool a motor that was previously cooled with an engine driven fan.
Also from previous experience. Electric fans do free up a heap (very noticeable) of engine power. You can also override the thermo switch and turn on the fan before the start of a hill so you can make sure the radiator is full of cool water for when the thermostat opens as the engine heats up on the hill. Also as the power initially comes from the battery then alternator then has time to charge the battery in the down hill side.
Plenty of reasons to have an electric fan but I just don't know if it would have the flow to cool the TD5.
Happy Days
