Hi All,
In the process of upgrading to a 2A intercooler I have noticed what i think is oil on the radiator??
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
There is no oil on the old intercooler.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
Seems to blow off with compressed air though.
My thoughts is the the fan hub is about the same height, could be leaking?
Any idea guys, anyone seen it before?

Got it in thanks to the instructions here..
http://www.discovery2.co.uk/intercooler.html
I bought some silicone hose that look like terrafirma by the model number on the bag. Only 2 of the three fit. The LH front one has no where near the bend needed to clear the ACE pump.
Bugger now I find out there is a specific ACE hose kit..
Any one want to swap a black non ACE hose for an ACE hose?? :(

It may actually be the hose coming from the turbo which is incorrect.
A Discovery Td5 hose has an angle under 45*, but a Defender Td5 hose is over 90*.
If so you should be able to cut the 90* hose to the correct angle.

Have you tried rotating the steel interconnecting pipe? This should clear the ACE pump.

Its dirt that has been sucked into the radiator fins by the viscous fan, if it has collected on the opposite side to the engine fan (so between intercooler and radiator?). Its stuck there because at some point, the intercooler might have the slightest leak, the radiator might have a slight leak (on both accounts the leak would be dampness) or the dirt was damp when it was sucked there, or maybe too much crc spray on the bonnet latch was used.
A bit of a exterior clean of cooling fins now and then is a good thing. The same sort of crud can build up on the fins of the centre viscous coupling fan, which also requires a clean now and then.

No I didn't because there is a dent in the tube to clear the ACE pump so it only goes in one way..

I didn't think I was stupid enough to buy the Defender kit.
Below shows the two pipes.
BLACK (left) is D2 Non ACE and BLUE (right) is D2 with ACE.

I have seen it .
When mine looked like that at about 250,000km it needed a new core.
when we took it out it was rotting.
get it checked out by radiator specialist is my advice.
