I have bought a new casing / shell for my D3/4 (2.7) key, as old one is coming away at the edges. Anyone have instructions on how to dismantle them so I can put the insides into the new shell.

thanks

I used a hacksaw very carefully around the join, being careful not to hit the pcb inside. Don't need to cut it through the whole way round, just through one side then lever it open.

If you are handy with a soldering iron it is a good idea to replace the rechargeable battery. Mine lasted about 6-7 years. Cut the tags with sidecutters then use a solder sucker or braid to remove the tags and try not to burn the card

Take note of the key and spring locations and do a test reassembly before gluing carefully with super glue

A multi tool might work better than a hacksaw. Can control it better.

Yes but most people would have a hacksaw and not a multitool. ;)

D3 or D4
D3/4 doesn't help much as they are both very different keys.:p

Ok, D4. I currently have it all in bits with just the spring loaded little snip at the top end (above the lock / unlock end) to get out. Once i've worked out how to get it I'm probably on the home straight. No saw or cutting was needed
