Anyone fitted one of these Land Rover Discovery 1 300TDI 90 110 TDI PRO Intercooler 90 98 Diesel 115mm Core | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Land-Rover-Discovery-1-300tdi-90-110-TDI-PRO-Intercooler-90-98-Diesel-115MM-CORE-/231334793416?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item35dca0d0c8)

The original is leaking and needs to be replaced and I'm not made of money so I was looking for a reasionably priced replacement. The factory coolers are well known for leaking around the tubes I have two leaky ones

I think in the D1 section there is a post on fitting one , needed some work to get it in.

Did some measuring last night looks like a pain in the arse. But still cheaper then the 400 the radiator bloke wants for a new standard one

Had an interesting chat to one of the blokes at TRS in SA the other day, he reckons the standard IC has a pressure drop upwards of 3psi ?

Never measured it myself, should stick some gauges on and check, but if so that's pretty ordinary so a thicker core should help.

That is interesting... I tapped a connector into the inlet manifold on my Tdi some time ago and have measured both turbo and manifold pressures and I've never really noticed any major difference in psi between them, I've since found that the ic was leaking as well which would show a bigger pressure drop at the manifold??
In comparison the new full width Allisport ic I've now fitted is showing around a 3-4psi difference from turbo to manifold..

re the allisport ic, did it make much difference to the engine? Have you got stock turbo and injector pump?
cheers ian

It has definitely made a bit of a difference, it's currently running a Vnt and Turner Engineering head but still on stock tuning so there is definitely room for improvement to fully notice and get the most out of the cooler air and turbo, it also has an underlying issue that I suspect is pump timing, hopefully going to get it properly set and tuned up at the same time.
The turbo is currently putting out 16-17psi but the engine is only getting 13-14psi due to the larger capacity system so there is an improvement to be had there as well.
But anyway probably the most noticeable thing I've found with the larger IC is the quicker temp recovery after going up a hill, egts definitely seem to drop faster and I would say the overall temp has been ever so slightly reduced as well.. Haven't driven it extensively but just what I've noticed so far!

Have you shifted the wasgate line from the turbo outlet to the manifold? (leave the fuel compensator line on the turbo). Good place to start seeing as you have already tapped into the manifold.
