Firstly, you want to keep the air suspension in the rear, it is fantastic and often very handy. I have SLS & ACE and run a 2" lift and can run 34" Simex's no problems but run 32" MTR as everyday road tyre.
For the front I use custom springs from Browns Springs but there are many Off-the-shelf 2" lift springs.
For the rear I have 2" spacer blocks which fit under the SLS bags and are very easy to install. The spacers are made by Michael Samootin at 4x4Design Engineering. You can contact him at enquiries@4x4de.com.
Michael also make many other things such as Rock Sliders and Steering protectors for the Disco II.

Adam,
Did you change the shockies? Was there anything else that had to be modified as a result of putting the spacer blocks under the springs?
I am considering a lift on my 94 classic.

I use tough dog shocks all round which are longer than standard.
The spacer blocks come in a kit with everything needed such as extended bump stops and the raiser bracket for the SLS sensor and new mounting bracket for the ABS & brake lines. This kit is specialy made for the Disco so i doubt it would work on the Rangie.
The spacer blocks are not just blocks as you would use on a body lift but are engineered and laser cut so that the bottom of the air bags click into them. (not a very good explanation but best I can do :? )

Stevo,
Here is a pic which shows how much lift I have still with the air bags. This is running 34" tyres. The good thing about the air bags is that no matter how much weight you put on the back they just pump up more to keep the ride level.

Hey Walker - any chance of a close up of your steering guard and front recovery points? I need to source one for my S1 Disco and I'm trying to get a look at everything available.
Cheers,
Mac

I'll second that Walker. Got the same winch bar as you and struggling to find suitable recover points other that the eyes on the bar itself. Looks like you have a couple of shackles attached somewhere. Also would be keen to hear if you have any points at the back other than the tow hitch. I have considered sticking some holes through the rear bumber to find some points but haven't got round to removing it yet. Any tips or help appreciated.

The recovery points came from Michael Samootin as well. He definately has them for the Series II and I think he has designed some for the Series I as well.

The steering protector is from AMV in Ringwood. It is good and light (made from aluminium) but dints very easily. Again Michael has designed a steering protector that is very similar but a lot stronger and a bit cheaper.
If you want to go higher than a 2" lift with the Disco then Slunnie is definately the man to speak to but there is a lot of work involved in doing it.
For more info on Disco II stuff try joining this forum as it is purely Disco II and there is a lot of knowledge in there.

Hi Walker
Slunnie has been a great help indeed for me on some of my D2 info. Are you saying your rig only has a 2" lift though???!! Looks a lot bigger than that.
Still at a loss as to how to access the D2 Yahoo forum even though I am registered with them and fairly computer literate would you beleive. I've heard it is a good source of info but can't seem to get into the bloody thing....maybe I'm not as computer literate as I thought.
Cheers again for your input

Yep. Only 50mm lift. But those tyres are almost 5" larger in diameter than standard so that gives you another 2.5" lift.
Did you try the link to the Yahoo site above? Not long ago the site changed its name from AussiediscoII to d2au so it will have a different log in.

I assume you have done a bit of cutting to the gaurds and adjusted steering stops etc?! I am about to fit some larger tyres to my D2 to,
a. gain more traction and
b. gain more height
so would be keen to know what you have done to allow you to fit those tyres - Simex?

No cutting of the guards is needed. Just a 50mm lift, adjust the steering stops and cut a little bit of the plastic sill behind the front wheel.
That's it. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
