Gday...

I hate to admit it, but despite having owned my D3 for five years, I have only yesterday found this object under one of middle passenger seats.

It has a LandRover logo embedded in the plastic and the number, shown as >HDPE<.

Anyone got any idea what this object is please

Cheers - John

It's a blanking plug that fits to the towbar when the tongue is removed.

Not quite the tongue cover, but pushes up into the tow bar locking mechanism on a D3/4. Designed to keep the locking mechanism free of dirt.

Mine fell out two days after purchasing my D4 on a GOE off-road day....never to be seen again.

Should probably keep it.
Try buying one from a dealership parts department.
Must contain gold?

Not gold ... un-optainium. :)

I lost one in my first D4 .... I didn't re-fit it properly ... I can say that with complete honesty as I have D4 #2 and you just have to pay attention when fitting. I lost the first straight after re-fitment.

You wouldn't pay for a new one though.

Drove for 4.5 years without. If the 'hole' in the chassis is full of crap before you want to tow and need to fit the receiver, then 'Mr Garden Hose' is irreplaceable :D. There is nothing more there than a big iron hole.

Cheers.
