Has anyone fitted the OEM rear ladder? I thought there was no drilling, but the instructions say to drill out a hole on the upper tailgate and use two of those collapsable nutserts and bolts, while still using the nuts and bolts that hold on the number plate light/handle.

Is it stable enough without putting the two additional bolts in?

Just drill the holes

Paint the edges and fit the nutserts...

Then it wont chatter around :D

I've got the Frontrunner ladder on mine - no holes to be drilled with that one. ;)

I have added a smallish self adhesive rubber 'kick Panel' at the bottom rung as your boots / shoes tend to scratch the paintwork a bit as you climb up and down.

Do you need the Frontrunner rack to use their ladder?

I think I'm going to invest in a ladder this year. My wife has been a good sport helping me lift things on and off but a ladder would be really handy. Where did you get that one from?

No Scott. Ladder is completely independent of rack. It simply hooks on the top of the tailgate, and uses existing bolts under the number plate light assembly, as does the Land Rover OEM ladder. Took me all of about 15 minutes to install.

One thing that the Frontrunner ladder has that I think is better than the OEM ladder, is a flat step / small platform at the top of the ladder, rather than just another tubular rung. Gives you something a bit more substantial to step on at the top, plus provides a bit better protection for the top of the tailgate and stops you stepping on the painted surface.

I do have the Frontrunner rack on mine, but the ladder would work equally as well with any style of roof rack.

i imported the oem ladder from duckworths 2yrs ago. drilling is required to make existing holes bigger to fit the compression nuts in
