Gearbox going into manual on its own?

I've had my MY14 HSE SDV6 for 9 months now and only problem has been the above. Has only happened few times. Seems to happen when starting up a hill or going round a slow corner (e.g. when taking off at traffic lights and immediately going uphill, especially turning at the lights.)
Box sticks in D1 or D2 and is indicated as such on display. I have to put it in neutral then switch back to drive. Paddles will move the gears up and down when its in this condition . I don't think this is normal. Anyone else experience this?

I know this doesn't solve your problem but have you tried holding the right hand paddle for a few seconds as this normally re-selects auto mode. Left paddle does not do this AFAIK. Might be easier than selecting neutral.

Has happened to me,worked it out on the 3rd occasion.Its possible to accidently trip a paddle whilst parking,un-parking for that matter.You dont notice until you pull out on the road and its in D2;););).I dont think they go as low as D1 without futher downshifts.
Possible in your case????

Will try that.
Something like 30sec without a "comand shift" it reverts to auto again anyhow.

Yep, if the box is in manual mode, hold the right hand paddle for about 5 seconds, and it will revert to auto.

And, as the car seems to go into manual, especially as you are turning, I would almost lay money on the paddle being bumped.

I still do it on occasion, but just grab the right hand paddle, and hold.

I'm the same, especially on cornering. But it could happen in a straight line at lights if you've had hands off the wheel while waiting and then grab it again when taking off.

The few times Ive done it Ive played with the paddles for a whilst after thinking geez these are fun to play with;););););)

As everyone has said its probably you inadvertently touching one of the paddles when steering either hold the up paddle for a couple of seconds or just put in sport mode then back to D again and it will come out, but generally paddle is easier.
