View Full Version : Clearing unknown fault code fixes EAS

Hi
I thought this warranted a separate post.
My EAS was going down overnight and even if I flicked the isolation switch it still went down at the back.
So i was looking at the valve block with a jaundiced eye. I decided to have a look with the nanocom and it said Unknown Fault code, which I cleared.
Lo and behold the EAS is now OK again
So i think my driver may be dodgy. I hope this helps someone else in the future

Hmm, my P38A is going down in the rear with the EAS switched off and I get the same Nanocom message.

I had this same issue for a couple of weeks, dropping at the back only, and only sometimes.
I had a faulty delay relay at the time so I couldn't link the RSW Tool up and read codes, now that I've replaced the DR, no more problems or codes.....
Surely they can't be related??
I also had a weird problem around the same time where I would lose all readings - revs, speed, temp, fuel etc for a coupe of seconds, with all lights coming on, like the ignition was in pos2 without the car running, although car would run perfectly while this happened... This has also stopped...
Plan was to tackle Ron's Fuse Box repair as the and do the Valve Block AGAIN.. :censored:

I should hookup my Faultmate and T4 and see what they say.

Well the party didn't last long for me, this morning it's back to it's old behaviour.
Valve block driver swap is in order for sure

They are getting to the age now where items like driver units are becoming a hot replacement item

I was thinking the same thing !

Hi
I was also thinking that new ones are probably about $1000 and I was not far out LR direct has them for $1002
I suspect that second hand ones from cooler climes may be in better shape than the ones which have been in our beasts for 20 off years
Actually this is not the right part (RQT100040) it is the EAS controller. Looks like new drivers are around the $500 mark
I see one on Ebay stamped E312430015 but that also seems to refer to the entire valve block assembly

I managed to get a new driver last year courtesy of marty at rovarange for around $380.

Hi
Well we rebuilt a valve block I had as a spare and put it in together with it's driver block which looked in better condition than my original.
Now the back stays up reliably but the front drops overnight so we may have not got the NRV's correct. But I also still get the same unknown EAS fault :(
So I am going to try it tonight with the bypass switch on and see of it still drops.
I am also thinking a replacement EAS controller may be in order!

My Nanoco also shows an unknown fault code but T4 doesn't. I haven't tried my FaultMate yet.

Since half the computers in my beast were shot I am going to get a second hand one and see if that fixes the unknown fault code issue, since it's unlikely that both valve block drivers are shot !

There are many things that can go wrong that will bring up unknown fault codes. The first thing to check is the system pressure and how much pressure it holds whilst driving and overnight. Mine kept having unknown fault codes due to the compressor running to long and also the eas being unable to achieve target heights, it was continually trying to adjust the suspension height, after a few minutes the Eas would drop out.

Hi
Thanks Ian, they can be a :censored:
As I said in the previous post, after the valve block rebuild the rear stays up but the fronts go down so it could be the NRV's are shot. The system is not holding pressure overnight but it seems to find it's height OK once the pressure is back up.
I have flipped the bypass switch so I will see if it does the same thing with the self levelling disabled. Tomorrow morning will tell on that score

Well with the EAS Self Levelling switched off it still went down at the front
I have ordered another valve block rebuild kit and will rebuild my original valve block once it arrives and also check the NRV's on the on currently in it!
