I am looking at one here in Vic with 166k's it has twin airbags and ABS. The vehilce has service history but last 80k's via mobile mechanic. How do I tell whether cam belt has been changed or upgrade kit fitted.
Also is the Auto a better/stronger proposition than a manual, Ive heard manuals can be a bit troublesome. It will do most driving in MLB metro area with stints in the bush say once a month. I will not be towing any caravans, boats etc.
Any other issues ie ABS faults, 300 reliability at these K's etc. Can you also fit an aftermarket Bullbar to the airbag model and which is recommended?

I would talk to the servicer or previous owner to answer q's about what has been done to the car. There should be a yellow paint mark on the top? of the timing cover if the timing belt kit has been done by a landrover dealer I think. If in doubt, it would be wise to inspect the belt as at 166k it just might be due for another. The auto's are a good strong box if looked after and should give 250k or more without too much trouble. YOu can get airbag compatible bars for them I would talk to ARB about that.
hopefully of some help.

with any 300 TDI that you dont know personally the history I would be changing the cam belt soon. The job can be done for about $300.

BTW - best combination in my opinion, Disco 1 300 TDI with Auto.

I had a 1996 TDI Auto and wished I had never sold it.
