Has anyone here used Michelin Latitude Tour HP's on their D4? I am trying to find the quietest tyre I possibly can. I don't need off-road performance but I do want comfort and silence. The OEM wranglers sort of spoil the wonderful silence of the rest of the car.
I have Michelin LTX's on the Defender and they seem quieter than the Wranglers - of course there are some other noises in the Defender.....

Yep. I've had them on for about 15,000Ks now and find then quiet and comfortable. However perhaps not the best tyre if you are towing a 2.6 ton van as I am. Seem to be a bit soft in the side walls with 260kgs+ on the tow ball. Otherwise I'd say go for it.

Pirelli Scorpion Zero are fairly quiet. I'm on my second set and will use them again

Thanks gents for the replies. Does anyone have an opinion as to which would be quieter, the Michelin or the Pirellis? Thanks, Paul

sorry mate no idea, would come down to the tread pattern I would think.
both appear to have a similar pater so would think it is much of a muchness.
I have used contintnals, for they type, very, very quiet but hopeless conering, too much movement in sidewalls.

Thanks Peter, I had wondered about Contis - from what you say, I don't want them!

Thanks Peter, I had read reviews, but I never can really be sure who is writing the review, users or suppliers?
There is so much collective wisdom and enthusiasm on AULRO that I tend to trust this over other sites.

Check out the tyre company sites in EU/UK as they now have to give a comparative noise rating.
Just remember that dB increase isn't linear so a 1-2dB increase is significant.

looking at these as well.
Did you find out any further details?
More interested in ride, handing and of course longevity.
I have had 2 sets of the Pirelli Scorpion Zero and while I like them they don't last that long. After 30 thou they are pretty much shot :censored:

Have a look at the Michelin Latitude Sport 3 as well. The EU label spec's are better than the Latitude Tour HP and they seem to get a great wrap for a highway tyre in reviews.
I'll assume longevity may suffer as a trade off for the reported exceptional handling and braking? That's just my guesstimation though...

Hi Peter, I have decided to try the Michies - on the EU website they are rated as a little bit noisier than the OEM tyres but noise ratings can be pretty rubbery so I will give them a try. We are on the road but will be home next week and I will order them straight away.
Will keep you posted.

Interesting, they claim the Sport is one dB quieter than the Tour. I wonder if they are robust enough for occasional sharp rocky roads?
Longevity doesn't worry me so much but noise does. Silence is Golden, don't you know!! Thanks for the suggestion - I will see if my local bloke can get them. Cheers.

I have put them on a couple of weeks ago and very happy so far.
Very good ride, handling and very quite.
I had oem goodyears which were pretty good except for noise and lasted 69,000km then put on ATR Pirelli's which only lasted 54000km which did surprise me. Pirelli tyres rode poor but did every thing else very well except wet roads once worn.
Have my limo back with the new tyres so very happy so far, time will tell.
A few long trips towing will give me a better idea.

Just an update on the new tyres.
The Michelin Latitude tours are great so far, only couple of 1000km but have had them in most conditions from very soft sand to towing highway to around town and have performed great, now just need to see how long they will last. They have brought back the ride and handling that had been missing for a while, very happy with them. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/12/13.jpg
