Rev Limit?

Looking at installing a tacho for my Perentie. I know the 4BD1 has a rev limiter on it, but I can't seem to find what that limit is. Can anyone help me with that?

put it in neutral, hold the accelerator flat to the floor.

that's the limit.

you don't need a tacho in a perentie, you have four usable gears in each range, and theres only about 1/3rd of the usuable rev range overlapped in each gear, its not like you have a 64 speed compound box under there that means you have about 6 gears that will all do the same road speed for various engine speeds to allow you to maintain speed in changing conditions of road and headwind at varying degrees of fuel effeciency as you massage gears to maintain the ideal maximum torque RPM of the engine.

there are other far more important gauges for you to have especially if you turbo it than the Tacho. The really important ones you either already have or have an idiot light for.

I'm guessing Chris is asking the max. RPM as he is trying to select a tacho.......the way I read his post he doesn't have one fitted.

I'm not sure what ranges tachos come in.......my bet would be the smallest

I have never had the need look at a tacho on any type of car I have driven.......on road or of road

Just found a wikipedia page for Isuzu engines. 3200 rpm max.

VDO 0-4000 rpm to match everything else :)

ended up getting both a clock (http://www.veethree.com/clocks.html)and Tacho (http://www.veethree.com/programmable-tachometers.html) (no 2 in the picture). got the black bezel on the clock so they will all match.

for less than the cost of a VDO tacho.
now just have to take the truck up to the auto electrician to get the
'W' connector installed on the alternator.
