I have a

(probably chinese:angel: but bloody heavy)
compressor that I'm using to inflate my van and car tyres.
At the moment it has a screw on the valve type fitting and a gauge that reads in bar.
I'd like to fit something like this

but I am concerned about when the trigger is released, there will be pressure build-up in the line as there is no tank or (I think) no pressure cut off.
The ideal way would be just to let the compressor run,, but do I then have to fit a reservoir?

The air line itself will act as a reservoir. You will need to fit a pressure switch and relay to control the compressor.

That's why the arb compressors are so good, they switch off. I saw a new bushranger one that does too but pricey. I've blown the hose too many times on my cheapy so I just switch the unit off between wheels. I like my digital gauge.

would one of these work?
Brass Pressure Relief Valve 1/4" 80psi - 80cfm - 1/4" Pressure Relief Valves - BRASS SAFETY PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES - Safety Relief Valves (http://allcompressorparts.com.au/products/safety-relief-valves/pressure-relief-valves/1-4-pressure-relief-valves/brass-pressure-relief-valve-1-4-80psi-80cfm)

anyone know a (national) company that sells shop air line by the metre?

This is a safety pressure relief valve. It will prevent damage to the system, but won't turn the compressor off. You want a pressure switch.

Yep, aforementioned Pirtek in a related thread. Found the local people (O'Connor) very helpful with old style service.

Thanks Aaron, I'd like to just let the compressor run, hopefully not to long between tyres:angel:, switch off between sides, start again.

BTW, that little black button on the side is an air release, if that gauge is acurate, you can use it to let air out of your tyre if you pump it up to high.

I have a Big Red by Thomas, it doesn't have a pressure cut off, never had an issue in 10yrs, also have that exact same compressor, only used it twice, wouldn't blow up a party balloon, bloody hopeless, I bought it for Ness, having twin cylinders I thought it would be good, but I thought wrong, oh yeah I forgot to add, I have two of those things in your pic, one with a normal size hose and the other has about 5mtrs of ARB compressor hose, they work much better than that silly screw on thingys.

I have some spare ARB hose if you want it.

You could use a small LPG bottle as a reservior, would make pumping up the tyres quicker.Problem is more space.
If you can get a couple of soda stream bottles you could make a nice reservior.

Yea, fire extinguishers work too,,
I think that relief valve will do the job,
dont forget, this contraption is designed for increasing pressure by 5lb a tyre at most,,,,
