I have a two inch lift and just started to notice a vibration at 70kph and above accentuated under acceleration on standard height. The vibration disapeered when I lowered to highway height. I suspected uni joints.
On inspection I could not find any movement in the uni joints. Anybody had a similar experience? I will be ordering a few spares.

Is it related to propshaft angles being excessive when lifted?

Yes p38arover that is my belief

I agree with Ron. Did the front shaft uni's on mine and mine disappeared.

I used highway height for normal driving from then on.

Cheers

Hammer, I had exactly the same issue on mine.
The rear uni on the front shaft was tight, but was binding at the increased angles.

Thanks Benji,

That helps narrow the offending uni down. Looking at the uni joints connected to the front and rear diffs, I'd think as the vehicle is lifted the diffs rotate which would mantain to a degree the prop angles, where as the uni joints connected to the gearbox would increase thier angles. With the front prop being shorter the angle for the front uni to the gearbox would be greater. That makes sense. Please correct me if that's wrong.

Yep, the uni on the front shaft at the transfer case was my culprit.

Must get around to replacing my uni's. I have the full set (plush the flexi joint for the rear) sitting in the garage. The front prop shaft should always have been a double cardan joint.

I know the parts catalogue shows some P38s having it but I haven't seen one on a Australian delivered car.

Would fitting a double cardan be simply a matter of taking it to a machine shop?
What do you think the cost would be?

I only see them (TVF100010G) listed for;

Discovery I | '94 - '99
Discovery Series II | '99 - '04
Range Rover Classic | '95

I'm sure there are specialist prop shaft machine shops who could do the work. Or modify one. But I'm guessing it'd be more hassle than buying one from lucky8. Tom Woods for example.
