I purchased an after market external thermometer, I have no idea where the temperature sensor should be placed.
Someone suggested to install it behind the front light. Will it get heat from the light when turned on?
Where is the best place to install it?

I'd think engine bay heat rather than heat from the headlight would be the issue there. Some rangies have them behind the radiator grille. Plenty of fresh airflow while you are moving.

Hi
I use an Engle fridge temperature sensor with a wired probe.
I have fitted the probe in the Snorkel, going in near the top at the back, where the head joins on.
I tried lots of places, this seems the most accurate.

I keep my sensor in the console and throw it on the mudguard for an official temp.

Doesn't this create a false reading due to the windchill effect ?

No.
Wind-chill or windchill, (popularly wind chill factor) is the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body on exposed skin due to the flow of air. (My emphasis.)
It doesn't change the actual temperature.
