Hi,
Where is the bypass filter on the 4BD1 engine in the perentie 4x4 GS cargo's?
About to do my first oil change on the Perentie, in somewhat of a shorter time than expected (work on call and have been called up tomorrow)
I have a pile of assorted filters matching all the part numbers needed. One of which appears to be a bypass filter.
Ive located the main oil filter - but can't see a bypass filter anywhere.
The diagrams I have indicate that it should be below the main oil filter - but it is not.
The thought has crossed my mind that I may have some variant that does not require this - as the ryco book lists these filters as for the 4BD1T - so maybe it's a turbo related thing?

I think the 4bd1 in the civilian county and series 3 stage 1 had dual oil filters.
AFAIK the 4x4 Perentie's all have a single inverted oil filter Isuzu part number 8-94321219-1. I don't think Ryco makes an equivalent.
Try Landybitz, they have the Isuzu filter on Ebay.

I have the following filters on hand:
Ryco Z155X
Ryco Z333
Ryco Z169A
Apparently the Z333 is an equivalent to the fleetguard LF3522
at time of writing, I'm unable to verify if either of these are correct, but it would seem to be that way looking at other posts in the forum.

Just did a quick lap around town and found a Nippon "max" Z419
also has part numbers "WZ419NM" AND "MO-325"
same diameter as the original but about a 3rd shorter.
Guess this means oil pressure may be a tad higher.
I quoted the isuzu number you gave me, and check the size of the Ryco one I have, the ryco is about 1/3 the length of the original.
As it's imperative I change oil tonight, I'll use whatever is biggest and fits.

That's a turbo engine filter set you have there dranoweb. Neither of those oil filters will fit the 4x4. The Z169 fuel filter will fit. The 4x4 in the perentie and late civilian Isuzu county had a single inverted screw on filter - the earlier ones had an element type single oil filter. Have a search on here and you will find the correct number for the oil filter. Normally I could help you but nowhere near my parts books atm.

I popped the hood and compared the above to my existing.
diameter wise looks the same, length is about a 3rd short.
I quoted Isuzu part number 8-94321219-1 at an R&E auto desk, they handed me the above filter.

I have the same part number. The previous number is 8944160690. Pic below of the 4x4 filter set up.
