Talk to ARB in Kilsyth 03 9761 6622 - they may help you and then again....

Cheers and good luck.

You will need a winch cradle. The winch on vehicles with air bags mounts this way, not directly to the bull bar. The same mounting holes for the bull bar are also used to hold the cradle. You will be restricted to a low mount winch. The bull bar you have now should hopefully have a slot for the cable or rope to pass through. I will be, when I get the shed sorted, fitting up a bull bar and winch to my DIscovery 1 .

Incorrect. I have a D1 and D2 both with SRS. Both have an ARB bar. On the D1 the winch mounts to a cradle which is bolted to the chassis.

On the D2 it is mounted directly to the bull bar, same as an older non SRS vehicle.

what d2dave says makes sense. If it was chassis mounted behind the bar it would interfere with the crumple zone that the SRS require to trigger, Not an issue in an early D1.

Hello, any cahnce you could post a photo? and what winch do you have? I'm guessing you have to cut out a hole in the bar?

Thanks

Julian

I have an ARB Deluxe bar on my D2a. No cutting required for a low mount winch. The Deluxe bar is SRS and winch compatible.

I've got a Runva 11XP Premium winch fitted. I did buy the addition ARB spaced and offset hawse mount.

Seems I can only post one photo at a time via my iPhone?

OP is asking about a non winch compatible bar, ie one without the opening for the cable or access to a winch.
His bar will need to be cut and likely add bracing to it.

But Bohica (As quoted in my post) was asking to post pics and asking what winches had been fitted. He has a D2a which ARB only do a winch compatible bumper ;)

Yes, you can, it is quite easy if you know how to weld.

Use 40x5mm flat bar to brace the bar, add a strip across the bottom, where the vertical face is folded into the return at the bottom of the bar, and weld in two uprights to pick up the winch bolts and fairlead.

Alternatively install a cradle behind the bar, and just mount the fairlead to the bar.

There is a helluva lot of misinformation already in this thread, let those that have done it do the talking ;)

Considering how short this thread is, apart from post number three, what other misinformation is in this thread?

Literally every post is irrelevant to the OP.
