How on earth did you find that. I've been driving CX's since I was 16years old..... and they are HOT .... the hottest cars ever made to travel in (you have no idea the effort I put into mine to make it cooler to travel in .... it just needs an athermic windscreen now)... To travel central australia in one is to invite suicide via heat stroke :wasntme: :wasntme: LET ME AT IT
Have you seen the entry into the latest ****box rally ?

As i am very busy at work ....... i have a few moments to check that website out each week .....
Its a great website if you like different cars - ie not fords or holden and are interested in why someone owns that particular car .
The videos are shot nicely and show the cars off to their " best side "
this is my other favourite this week

Oh gee's .. I'm going to waste half my life looking at that site now
That willies is amazing. To slow for our roads though. Would it's cruising speed be 50mph not towing ?
There is quite a few Traction roadsters built (very badly from what I've heard) in vietnam. I know of at least one that has come to Australia.
My father has a traction ... it's a standard small body one... built in france but RHD.

they were imported into australia undercoat and painted here. Apparently this is a chrysler metalic red from the late 40's/early 50's.
It's the only car my father has actually "sort of" restored. It's first trip was our wedding car and my father HATED it. slow, heavy, etc.... you know, a vintage car :D :D It also had a noise in it's gearbox.
Fast forward 15years. I finally have it's gearbox in my shed right now (you can see it beside the pictures of the boge leveller I posted). I'm determined to be driving the car around by the end of this winter :) ................... My father sure won't want me too. But I figure I'll have to tidy up one of my ID19's and sell it to fund it's purchase from him.

'Why' would someone buy an ID 19...? - if there was a chance for a CX...one with a working a/c...
- Would you get your costs back, you know, the price of placing the For Sale advert? :wasntme:
No, I'm NOT the least bit envious of the D -series.....

Thanks Ian, I know the front one one is a TA but what type. What's that body style called? Coupe?

Presumably Don, I picked it as a TA from the A pillar forward. I wonder if it's a one off or a factory offering. It seems to have rally plaques on the bumper.

There's a traction expert on here already (I've seen he has a Big 6 in his signature).
Tractions were built in all sorts of configurations. I'm not sure if the 2 door hard tops and convertibles were factory built or not. They made all sorts of models, there was 6 cylinder versions ( Big 6 ), there was even V8 prototypes. 9 seaters, hatchbacks, small bodies, big bodies.
It's a different scene to the current stuff. After market specialist coach builders seem to like them. eg:
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2016/04/205.jpg
chapron convertibles (decapotable or whatever they call them) and now worth hundreds of thousands of $$$.
It wasn't just for fashionable cars such as coupes and convertibles. google "tissier" if you want to see some weird and functional vehicles ...

I think dozens of these used to carry the newspapers all over the country at high speed each morning.

Those with three or four rear axles must be pigs to turn around. My 130 is bad enough. Or do they have rear steer? They do look snazzy though.

Being front wheel drive would alleviate that issue to a large degree, Don. The rear axles would drag sideways easier than driven wheels.

I have no idea how you would turn them. I imagine the forces involved while turning with it loaded would be enormous. If you look, the wheels are tiny. Probably very narrow ... maybe 10" mini sized wheels. I'm guessing the idea is if you put the rear suspension level on "low", and the front axle on "high" ... the back edge of the bed will touch the ground. Being very narrow small tires should allow you to drag them with less effort to turn (as with three axles, you would need to be dragging at least two.
I imagine you would be forever setting the rear to "high" suspension to clear gutters and dips. I'm guessing they are still better than trucks and trailers in tight spots to maneuver (I'm guessing the equivalent in australia is a very small flat try truck).
I find watching my car trailer being backed quite scary. You can see the tires being pealed from the rims as it tries to drag an axle. Imagine 3 axles

I'd be surprised if there wasn't some form of rear wheel steering... makes no sense to 'not' have flexibility there... Unless the vehicles only travel in a straight line !
The logical setup would be along the lines of the traditional 'Tag' axle, usually the rearmost (of two) which can be lifted clear of the road... to effectively shorten the wheelbase and reduce wear when not loaded.

The rear most wheels may steer, either positively from the steering box (not hard to do on that model I'd imagine) or as a simple castor set up. Both methods are common on single drive, three axle prime movers in Europe.

Have you ever looked at dirt everyday on the motor trend youtube channel? They often have interesting old american "flat fender" (gotta love americanized sayings) type 4wds on it.

Whatever you do, dont' start watching the roadkill episodes then .... The roadkill guys and dirt everyday is about the only stuff I watch. Real down to earth guys not wanting to talk about how great there brand name/expensive cars/parts are. They have way to much fun really for a youtube show :)
