not that bad.
had what looked like a 2" body lift, maybe 32"tyres, possibly 12" wide and saggy front springs.
so was probably about 1" above standard but was missing front bumper (probably bullbar taken off for mods after bodylift)
and big yellow shocks
"highly modified".yeah right

If that's a 1" lift those to cops are very short.

Now let's send this into the paper and make sure they really hate 4wd drivers.
Horrible accidents happen, grief stricken parents blame everyone else to set aside their own persistent and permanent guilt, newspapers and news media look for the most attention getting angle on a story.
Since none of us fall into those categories...
Cheers

Saw the pics (in the Telegraph) last night. The story indicated that no charges had been laid against the driver.
From what I read I doubt that the outcome would have been much different irrespective of the vehicle (unfortunately for everyone involved).
I also managed to see part of the interview with Rob Kelly (Pres NSW 4WD assn) on Today yesterday morning, makes you wonder why anyone bothers trying to defend 4WDs as the interviewer had obviously made up his mind that these "highly modified 4WD child killing machines" should all be off the road.

What a crock of ****, the kid darted out in front of traffic, why arent they questioning why the kid wasnt being supervised? Matt

From what I read the kid was suppose to be beside his mother.
When she crossed the road and looked down he wasn't there, he was still on the other side of the road next to a parked Van.
She was yelling at him to stay where he was. He didn't. He ran out in front of a moving vehicle.
No-one was really at fault, it's just the newspapers / media trying to stir up a story.
It's sad - in fact it's horrible. However these things can happen anytime, anywhere
It's unfortunate that our media is reverting to sensationalist & biased reporting.
We just have to try to keep our cool and explain logically to people the situation, and hope that they are open minded enough to see the story from another point of view that (we hope) isn't quite so biased.
Now that's definately the pot calling the kettle black, as I'm not renowned for keeping my cool... however it's the best we can do in the circumstances

I wonder what the headlines would have been if it had been a car that hit him? I doubt it would have made the front page. I dont mean to be insensitive, but it just ****es me off when some poor innocent 4wder cops the flack because the kid ran out when he has passed, if he had been hit by a car chances are he would still be dead. Oh yes it gives me the sh*ts too, no doubt about it. Really infuriates me at their pointless blabbering to get headlines and sell papers, however in the end it doesn't help anybody - especially the poor kid who ran out in front of the vehicle (4wd or otherwise) style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif

Sorry Ace I'm not trying to get up your nose or put you off-side or anything.
I agree the quality of reporting is pitiful.
I'm just saying we should take a moment to feel sorry for all those involved, and take some comfort in the apparent success of the "Sunrise" or "Today" interview where the 4wd council member sounds like he did a fantastic job of explaining the facts
If we get bitter about it then it'll come out when we're talking to others, and that's just likely to put them off-side as well
/Glenn.
P.S. Must have taken a pacifistic pill last night, I'm rather relaxed this morning which is - for me - very rare these days 8O
