For South East Queenslanders, the new BCF stores are a good place to go to kill a few hours.
Went there this morning - great range of stuff at seemingly good prices.
Including a good range of Land Rover boots and hiking shoes !!!!

Ours in Toowoomba opened on Saturday. They are in the old Chandler Centre for those who are familiar with the town.
Humongous set up, and I agree, prices look good. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Are these to remain exclusive to QLD or are we likely to see them in NSW? Matt

Sounds like a store we have in Melbourne called 'Anaconda'
Even sells GPS units, uhf radios, mountain bikes & a small range of offroad gear. Not cheap but they do have Land Rover boots for $199 8O
One of my so-called mates bought a pair from Ray's Tent City for $60....I could kill him but they are not my size
Cheers,

Very decent looking pair of LR outdoor/hiking shoes $70.
Don't remember the price of the boots.
And Ace, I guess if the demand is there they will go anywhere.

Apparently its a subsidary of Supacrap and the staff are asked to sign contracts that dont have holiday pay/ leave loading, payment for overtime etc etc. Don't sign, Don't work.
IR at it's best  and our govt hasn't even made it law yet.
I'd be comparing prices/quality with other stores before buying.
Bruce.

I wondered if someone would bring that up.
They certainly received some media attention last week over it.
I guess it's not too good for the employees - but if you shop somewhere else, then the store doesn't get the business, stores will be closed down and then they won't have a job at all.
And soon, there will probably a lot more of that, so shopping will be a lot harder as you look for not only the best price and quality, but the retailer with the fairest workplace agreements.

re IR
I would imagine this store would operate like most other large department stores where 90% of staff are casuals (not that I agree with this method of employment) there therefore holidays and leave loading is accounted for in there hourley rate. Not sure about overtime.

I'm an employer of 7 and have had my sales staff on AWA's since January. They are properly checked and registered via the appropriate gov't department. They had to show 'no disadvantage' to the employee or they would not be approved. I have a 22yo son who is under a similar agreement.
Get used to it everyone, its the way things are going to be done in the fuure no matter which political party own the Lodge....... remember, Crean was going to 'roll back' the GST...... then he wasn't...... then he couldn't. And in Victoria, we have a government who said that there would NEVER be tolls on a freeway extension...... guess what

Now I'm not really enamoured of the job the ALP have been doing of late, HOWEVER it's probably not a good diea to get ME started on the topic of John Howard and ESPECIALLY IR legislation. (comes back to the way I was taught by my now departed Grandfather, how he fought for many rights etc etc). Sopabox not required.
Back to the point...
Did BCF take over Camp Mart - does anyone know, or is it a brand new place entirely ?

When is a shop coming to the northside, the southside is saturated with them. Although I have too much camping gear as it is therefore I don't to be buy much, always good to have a walk around.

I bought my Land Rover shoes for about $140, but i have seen them for 60, 90 i dont really think there is a set price, and they all appear to be of different quality.
It would be good, we need more 4wd/camping super stores. Matt

I saw their ads on TV here in Perth and thought I must go in for a browse. Then I rwad this post and vistied the site and realised the ads I saw werew on during the MotoGP and Bathurst(? maybe just GP). They had satuaration advertsing here in Perth. I was wondering why the ads did not actually say where any shops were.

I mate of mine visited the Lawton shop on the weekend, was impressed by the size, some good specials however if you wanted to talk technical to somebody it was hard to to find somebody over 18 years old. There were 3 million people in the store so he drove down the road to the competition and brought what he needed.
