Hi Folks,
I was looking at the sister site and found mention that there is a recall in UK for action P080.
The title in TOPIX is "P080 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Signal Issue". The chassis ranges Land Rover suggest, if renewing the sensor it's advisable to renew the pick up ring.
D4 VIN range in scope: AA510178-CA652214
I wonder if this will ever appear here? https://www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/952880

Ive had a couple of occasions where my engine would not start.
Vehicle only months old.
The I pushed start button the dash lights came on, then silence.
Sweating bullets, I pushed start button without foot on brake, everything powered up, then I pushed again with foot on brake.
Bingo.
Its only done it twice.
I will mention to dealer at service time.

There is sometimes a short delay which is normal, only happens every so many starts.
Next time it happens, hold the start button for a few seconds longer and see if it goes.

According to the UK site, the worst scenario is you're driving down the road and the engine dies - then you lose power steering and brakes - and head off into a ditch. It seems to have already happened over there.

OK - an update from the first post, which I am no longer able to edit.
There are two parts to this issue - clarified from Topix:
LTB00680: VIN AA510178-*CA652214
P080: VIN 626758 - 653082 (years 2012-2013)
So while the problem is known to affect a large number of vehicles (per VIN range in services bulletin), they are only recalling only a small number. Let's hope they got it right.

just received a recall notice from LRA to advise me that the Crankshaft position sensor could be faulty and they wish to replace it
Love the clause
"Engine cutout with minimal warning could potentially cause a crash"
If fitted with air suspension system will reduce vehicle to lowest ride height position
From what they tell me it certainly throws some faults into the system and explains a few certain things that have happened to our vehicle (Fail to proceed) wouldn't start :(
refers to D4 2012-2013MY, Range Rover 2013-2014MY, RRS 2012-2013MY
