Ok had a problem with the td5 low on boost only 8psi no faults stored a slight rattle at idle and a vibration at 2200 rpm
Well found the cat rattling stopped it by putting foot on it
Ordered decat and centre muffler removal pipes
Today went to sort out low boost fault but thought would fit the exhaust first
Test drove and wow went to overboost spinning its wheels off the mark never seen it go so well
Readjusted boost and test drove again it's awesome well the blocked cat caused all our troubles and engine seems to breath better so may cut down on amount of oil entering intercooler and poor fuel consumption only getting 13.8/100 so will be watching to see how much this improves

Thanks for that, at the risk of being pedantic [ and being wrong], I assume by cat you mean catalytic converter. AFAIK, only the V8 has catalytic converters. One in each front pipe. The V8 system has 2 cats, one in each front pipe, leading to an intermediate pipe/ silencer[ muffler] assembly, then to a tail pipe /silencer assembly.
The TD5, on the other hand, has a front pipe assy. leading to an intermediate/silencer assy., then on to a tail pipe / silencer assy..Each silencer is constructed of stainless steel sheet, with baffle tubes, and fitted with stainless steel fibre packed around the baffle tubes. [ this description is from RAVE. ] Replacing the intermediate /silencer assembly with a straight thru pipe is said to improve performance, as for the tail pipe silencer, perhaps yours had collapsed partially. You have improved your performance, and are happy, that is the main thing.

I, for one, would love a clarification on this one. I have read that Cats were post 2004, that all TD5 Discos had them, that NO Diesel Discos did. Seems that not many folk actually know, but all report an improvement in performance when the thing is removed!
Now, I know from the truck world that diesel cats exist, but did the TD5 actually have one, in this market at least?

Yep. Mine has (had) one. 02/2004 build. The facelift model with the later Eu3 spec Td5.
Earlier Td5's (square headlight models) didn't get a CAT (in oz) afaik.
Mine goes better since I got rid of the moggy :p

All TD5s from 2002 onwards originally had the Cat fitted (EU3 spec engines)
