People of the forum,
I'm seeking advice on tyres (just like everyone else) I have currently for bfg km2 315/75R16 on the 130. Work well, but I hate running the wider flares and the bump steer with them.
I would love some tyres in 35"+ diameter range but narrower. I'm aware of maybe a couple of brands that do it, but really just want to pick your brains.
I like to do harder off road work but being in NT this almost always involves about 6hrs travel for the good stuff like arnhem land, limmen, or Gregory.
Is it only hardcore tyres like simex and Interco that make these sizes? Are they any good? Seen a Landy on YouTube with portals etc running TSL Q78s by the look, I believe he's a forum member.
But I'd just like opinions, advice on:
1. Tyres avail in these sizes?
2. Thoughts on using them as a daily?
I've used the search function a million times but can't really find this type of info, also I read on some other forum some guy talking about intercos on his OKA for touring.
Thanks in advance 😀

Hi from greece(!), I use powerking premium traction 900r16 on my 110 hicap, imported from us(https://simpletire.com/sigma-power-king-premium-traction-tires).34.5 inches dia, very narrow no problem with oem flares, very tough and i personaly love the old school looks. I think they suit the defender nicely. On the other side, pain to get them balanced and to import them from us(almost 3months and 400euros). TD5 has no problem to cope with them and i tried them with low pressures in the sand performed ok.Just my thoughts...
P.S. Also everybody will ask you about them in meetings and stuff..

I ran q78s on my Range Rover. Diff clearance and tread depth was good and they are a little less extreme than centepedes.
I would not recommend for daily use. You could do it but my simex centepedes I have now have better road manners and we all know there nowhere near a good road tyre!!

X2 what PSI250 says about the TSL Q78 Super Swamper.
They are (in the 16" version) a 35.5 inch tyre as well, your BFG KM2 in 315/75r16 are only a 34 1/8 to 34.5 tyre ( not a true 35").
Mike.

Yeah mine in 15 were def larger than the 35" pedes I now run, ment big sidewalks and heaps of movement on road.
I found once I grooved them they were much better off road.

Thanks so much for the info guys. PSI250 I believe I've read some of your posts about them haha. Do you have any pics?
Do you think it's feasible to use them.for long range "tough touring" and just run a road set day to day? Also, if you don't mind me asking, where did you buy them from?

I would def run 2 sets. They are a tough tyre so no probs with long range touring just bad to daily. Mine were pretty good still after a few years of use. No chipping or damage. They have exceptional tread depth from new which is good, Over 20mm in the center.
I bought mine from G&S Tyres in Somerville Vic.
On the car, it's a Rangie but I believe Rangie/defer/disco all suit the tall narrow tyre.

You can see were I grooved them here. Half done. Not essential but This made them better in the hardpacked Victorian clay!

For reference L to R all on rims.
36x12.5x15 centepede, my half worn q78 and 35x12.5x15 radial trep.
