Hi guys,

So as some know i am currently doing the ocean rd with the family.
Ive posted some egt results and everything has been going fine, however today i noticed some oil leaks the size of a 5 cent piece on the floor under the passenger side.
On closer inspection seems to be coming from the front of the engine near the water pump. I own a 2.2 110.

Driving today i noticed that at 100kmph im losing power and in fact the car started to loose revs and would not maintain speed. Normally my car pulls like a train and maintains low EGT's.

Any ideas?

On the passenger side, the last intercooler hose before the intake, they commonly get a small split on the bottom (can be seen with a mirror).

BUT, normally there is a increased induction sound and the engine light comes on...

Hi Daz,

Thanks for the reply. Its definitely not the cooler hose as i have an Alive cooler and after market hoses. Im thinking the brake vacuum pump or the seal for the high pressure fuel pump on the front of the block???

How did you go with isolating the problem?

Hi Dazzler,

Looks like its coming from behind the inspection panel on the front of the block behind one of the timing pulley brackets.
Im going to try and make it back to Sydney and hopefully get Graeme Cooper to look at it.
Whatever it is it is affecting my acceleration expecially in 5th at 100kmph up a hill for example. The funny thing is that if i put it into 6th when its struggling in 5th it starts to pull again, be it with some vibration as my tune makes a lot of low down torque.

Hi Mate,

I hope it is not too bad, how is the engine/egt tracking? Good Luck!

Thanks Dazzler.

Egt seems normal. I check the oil and coolant 3 times a day and all seems ok. I might top up the oil a little before heading back to Sydney (miniscule amount). Its just annoying cause all the mods I've done have made the truck run like a dream and now im babying it cause of a tiny little oil leak.

Anyway i look at the bright side, i can start to prepare it for Cairns later in the year.

Maybe the air-con compressor has crapped itself? just a thought.

Hi mate, im pretty sure it has to do with my oil leak. Ive read a leaking vacuum pump can affect the air con and its leaking in that area

That has me puzzled. Watching with interest.
Only way I can see engine issue impacting A/C is if the ECU is turning it off.

Update: the leak was coming from the panel at the front of the engine behind the timing belt and pulley bracket.

The power issue was a loose cooler bracket under high load. Easy fix. Thanks Dazzatd5

The air con issue was a puzzling one, more than likely due to the bracket affecting power?? This is a guess but the air con seems to be back to normal now.

So 3 small issues which are sorted.....on to Melbourne we go:D
