I've got a convex glass replacement for my wingmirror. However, I can't see an easy way to remove the glass. Nothing to undo. Only option seems to be to use a flathead screwdriver and gently lever. Any ideas?

8) i have v8 '95 disco and to get the left mirror glass out all i had to do was sideswipe a railing in the carpark as i dodged a speed hump.
the actual glass and the plastic thing it is fitted into just pop off, although it is broken i still managed to pop it back in place by hooking the inner end in and useing a screwdriver to click the outer end in.
damm speed humps!
damm railings for elderly cits!
now where did you get the new glass from?

Defender glass is just stuck on

Levering is the only way  Wear Safety Glasses and gloves :!: 8O

If you got the glass from OS check its the same size, I did the same but UK and US mirrors are smaller.

If it is correct size, where did you get it :?:

Cheers

I also did the same. I purchased the new smaller Defender mirrors from LR Brisbane. Bonus is the curved mirrors are better, more stable at speed, and better vision. I did both sides.

Just been looking. I can't see it anywhere. The mirrors are NAS "left hand only". Just buy two. They go on the existing mirror arms.
Austral LR in Brisbane got one out of stock and the other bought in. Approx $120 each from memory. The arms are centrally mounted in the mirror case, and the mirrors are aerodynamically shaped, not slabs like the originals.

Defender.

Thanks for the replies guys, you must have waited till I put the thing back together and THEN posted!

The convex mirror was bought by a relative from www.scorpionracing.co.uk and as someone pointed out is a little too small, but that doesn't bother me, I really want the convex not plain.

If I lever it out with a flathead how do you fix the replacement back in? Superglue?

cheers

I broke a convex mirror on a recent 4WD trip. Even though it was folded in :x

I got a new mirror, including the arm (Defender type) for $55 from Anthony Johnson in Bayswater. Ph 9729 9943.

At that price the SIII is obviously retrofitted with these superior mirrors. Also at that price I didn't even bother pricing the glass replacement only.

Fair enough I shall give him a call! My driver's side mirror wobbles and having taken it off I can see no handy bolt to tighten it, so that would be replaced too.

Karcraft just quoted me $28.90 each for the MTC5084.

Just thought I'd pass that on!

You cannot fit it. Wrong shape and curve. I thought about it and bought the new mirror head.

No, I'm going to follow the advice of the others here and just get an entire replacement as the glass is the wrong size.
