What year did the rear and frond diffs change form the 10 to 21 spline
on the range rovers and from the 2 to 4 pinion gears :?:

four pinion diffs only came out on the hse 4.6 and it was the rear only im not shaw when the spline changed

I think only the Defenders had 4 pinion differentials front and rear.

Correct me if i am wrong.

I did say that the HSE 4.6 REAR diff is a 4 pinion carrier and im shaw the question was about rangies not defenders https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

As far as I know they changed it when LR worked out there traction con trol. Which was 1993.

Not much to tell just gave up as it did last time stoped the car and had a look at a nice hard track but decided that you need a winch to get out at the end.

turned the car around and realised only front wheel drive we had a bit of fun getting back to the main road but with the help of a snatch en strap it all worked out well .
Then the noise started from the diff so i stooped and puled the diff out and removed the broken bits put it all back to gather and drove home on Saturday late afternoon.
now i need a stronger diff.

In the Uk it was only the V8 and V8 santana ones that had them in the later years

Sorry about hijacking the post, but i was just getting a confirmation on something I read in a service manual.

my rangie is a 6 pinion carrier thanks to macnamarra $800 but i did buy one off ebay for a good price was meant for the front but have,nt got around to fitting it yet https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
