Hi guys

I have changed jobs recently and am not driving to work as much. As a result, 90% of the time when I get in the Disco it tells me to turn the engine on the charge the battery. Firstly, does any know what voltage triggers this warning? It has never struggled to start, but I have concerns about draining the batteries - especially the dual battery that is controlled by the Traxide DU-5U unit.

I would like to set up a charging station at home that I can hook the car up to during the week to keep the batteries in good condition, and the easiest option is to utilise the anderson plug that came with the system that is located at the back of the vehicle.

Can anyone confirm that something like this would do the trick? Also, what amperage charger would be optimal? 10Amp? 15Amp? 25Amp? Is there any danger with damaging the batteries by using this setup?

I have also needed to top up the battery charge on mine since I have stopped working and don't drive the vehicle anywhere near as much as I used to. Must admit though that I have never got any message on the dash telling me that I needed to start engine to charge the battery - I simply notice the longer / slower cranking, especially in cold weather, and put the vehicle on the charger about once every couple of months for 24 hours or so.

I have three batteries in mine - the OEM cranking battery, plus an Optima yellow top under the bonnet and an Engel battery pack in the rear which runs the fridge - both auxiliary batteries are connected through a Traxide system.
I re-located the rear anderson plug to outside the bumper, mounted in a housing with a spring loaded cover (saves me having to remove the panel in the rear bumper to access the plug when I am charging batteries / powering LED camping lights or compressor etc). I simply plug my CTek battery charger into the anderson plug - it charges all three batteries in the vehicle, usually in less than 24 hours. [wink11]

I've got a pretty old (and basic) one - it's a "Multi XS 3600". Bought it at one of those 4WD shows in Perth at least 7 or 8 years ago. It has never given me any problems so far.
My son has a newer model with a lot more features - but I couldn't tell you which model it is. I have also used his on the D4 with no problems.
