Finally decide to order those items plus GOE rim still waiting, get myself ready for the tour. Any one have any problems during the installation with OL as I know this branch hadn't done it on D4 yet? Do I need to reminder them for attention? Such as connection to main tank, RWC might trigger the sensor? Departure angle. What is your experience during the installation?

many thanks!

If you want a better option for a wheel carrier, rijidig off road has developed a rear wheel carrier for the D3/4 that doesn't effect the rear parking sensors.

D3-D4 rear wheel carrier reversing sensor problem solved. (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/249857-d3-d4-rear-wheel-carrier-reversing-sensor-problem-solved.html)

The Outback Accessories RWC on the back of my D4 has never affected the parking sensors. [wink11]

Don't know of anyone that had any problems whatsoever Gary. Just be prepared to double your fuel range=D

I have a mate who had probs. with the RWC as fitted by OL and it was bodgy manufacture which caused the carrier to lean back quite markedly. Fixed by being shimmed to correct it but it shouldn't have happened at that price.
I'll go for the Rijidig soon as the workmanship of the one I have on the Defender is first class.

To resurrect this thread .... I've just installed my Rijidij RWC and it fits perfectly. Took just a tad longer than the estimated 4hrs (x 3 actually) but that may only have been 'cos I'm old and slow and everything else the Cook tells me I am. [bigsad]
Worst thing is trying to get those damn eyebrow things back in over the rear wheels.......I'm getting expert assistance tomorrow. [bigwhistle]
And whoever designed the bloody stupid winder thing to lower the spare wheel wants shooting.... I suspect LR gave the job to an apprentice just like Main Roads here give junction design to new designers who love trying to reinvent things!
But overall I'm glad it's on the back not underneath as I can imagine trying to get it out when stuck in mud or sand and panicking a bit etc. which I know we shouldn't do but there ya go..... I do.

The expert assistance I sought from Darren (DazzTd5 on here) from Aztech4x4 paid off and he fitted them damn rear wheel eyebrow/mudguard things in about 10mins easy.
Now I'll know how for the next time. [bigwhistle]

An older thread but it is closest to anything I could find on the subject. I am about to install my Rijidig rwc and just wanted to clarify one point before I launch into it.
Where you cut away the foam on the under side of the bumper I presume that is the right hand side and am guessing the installation photo shows the bar flipped over end to end so what appears to be the left hand side is actually the right. Can't see any reason to cut the lhs.

Can someone clarify that for me please. I will make a start and probably give Murray a call tomorrow.

regards
Geoff

sorted, now that I have the bumper off I can see what perspective the photo was taken. Should have been a bit more patient..

Now to get out the grinder...

Good luck Old Guy, it's a good carrier with easy installation directions... I've had 3 on various vehicles. I'm now making a hoist to lift the wheel on and off without breaking my already stuffed back. :( The only problem I've got with the Rijidig RWC is the locating pin at the bottom is wearing and makes it stiff to pull the unlocking handle up. There's a ridge worn into the pin and no doubt miles of corrugations are too blame for that. I'll need to repair or replace that soon.

thanks AlanH it looks fairly straight forward, will keep an eye on the pin as we generally do a lot of outback travel. While the bumper is off I have removed the white plug and replacing it with an Anderson plug, make access sooo much easier. My only concern going forward is how much of the rear vision will be obscured.

Rear vision is definitely affected especially if you're using the camera when reversing to check what is coming along from the right hand side. I thought about refitting the camera to the top rear light (if that's possible) but haven't investigated yet as it appears the light is not removable unless it's smashed. That's what I've read has to be done but haven't checked.
What penny pinching turkey at LR thought of that one? Might be easier on assembly to just bung some goo to stick it on with but no good at all for those wanting to do simple maintenance like fit a new globe/bulb.

Hmm, the rear view camera may be one of those things I have to live with. I really like the tow ball view function when hooking up.

Nearly there, have been sidetracked with a few other things today. All I have to do is punch the holes for the latch and we are done.

Well pretty much[smilebigeye]

Tow ball rear camera view is not affected. Apart from being well designed and straightforward to fit with good instructions, the Rijidij carrier does not impede the rear right light cluster, so you don't need to worry about fitting an extra tail light assembly.

Thanks DieselSE the tail light issue is the prime reason I went with the rijidij design. As mentioned the instructions are very good.

Yes the fact it clears the rear lights in good and yes again, it doesn't affect the downward view to the tow hitch.
