My house down the coast has some salt corroded aluminium window frames. I know I can repaint the frames but how can I kill the salt corrosion deposits?

You could go to BCF or similar and buy a litre of Salt away, it's used to flush outboards of salt.. Mix up the concentration and paint it on the alloy, it might help.
This Salt-Away spray is ready to use. It is a mild formula that can be used on pretty much anything - steel, iron, stainless steel, aluminium, magnesium, chrome, fibreglass, nylon, vinyl, plastic, gelcoat, glass, leather, rubber and just about anything else you can think of! Designed to strip away all corrosive salt from your tackle and other equipment, its regular use will prevent build-up in your gear, and leaves behind a protective coating to ensure things stay safe and salt-free.

Aluminium polish, it's the aluminium oxide that shines and protects the parent metal.
