Saw an article about using gas and diesel at the same time, site with details bellow:
Anyone tried it? For a 300tdi defender they give about a 30% power output and bettwe fuel economy for about $3.5 k

Not wanting to staunch the topic as it is worth reviving:

Thanks one_iota for pointing out the discussions last year, before I joined. Interesting concept particuarly for a 300tdi (no chip)

No worries. (BTW the search engine on this site is good) but we are still waiting for a guinea pig from this forum. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
I do wonder about the pay back period but as the cost of diesel continues to rise at a faster rate than ULP I will continue to keep an eye on it.

I was quoted 100,000 km to recoup my money or 2-2.5 years in my case. A friend has spoken with people who have toyed with it and they are all thumbs up but Knowing what I do about my beastie now id be a little scared. Its got to much power now 8O

AS I've said previously, I think it's pointless thinking about payback periods.
However, if you look at it in comparison with either separately or in combination with:
[list]1. Additional range equivalent to the fitting a long range fuel tank
2. Cost of an exhaust upgrade
3. Cost of a turbo upgrade
4. Cost of a chip upgrade (on TD5 engines)
5. The fact that you can remove it and refit it to your next car thus recouping some of its cost.
6. A far more driveable on-road vehicle[list]
then the cost becomes less frightening.

Well if I've got any $$$ left after we've moved back to Oz I'll do it when I get back - that is if I can convince the handbrake :!: as well
Oh and after the cruise control, replacement long range tank, automatic gearbox, airconditioning.... sheesh, I might as well just buy a new vehicle! BLASPHEMY!
