Hi
I'm installing a strike phone cradle into my D2a and need to feed the USB charge cable through a cable gland, problem is it won't fit. Is there any issue with cutting and joining a USB power cable? Any tips or tricks to be aware of?
Cheers

It's pretty straightforward. On thing I prefer is to cut each wire at a slightly different length, so the joins are not next to each other, if you see what I mean, but it isn't vital. Careful insulation is though. There are only four wires. You got a small soldering iron?

I have a gas one yes. Are there still 4 if there's no data component? Anyway I can make it able to be separated easily? (Thinking male and female spade terminals or such)

Gland isn't the problem, it's the hole it goes into.

USB Connector Pinouts (http://www.hobbytronics.co.uk/usb-connector-pinout)
You can buy male and female USB blanks on ebay for a couple of dollars and yes it is doable[wink11]
And if no data you only need the 2 for power and earth[thumbsupbig]

Try joining the red and black and see if it works. If it's only for power supply it should.
