View Full Version : Urgent Attention: D4 Disc Brake noise
DIS4

Hi, everyone. I left my D4 to dealer service and also complain about the regular noise from the brake, I had only done 16000km since replacing new brake at the beginning of the year. I haven't done much off driving or pull the 1.5 tone trailer for a thousand km. They claimed nothing wrong with it, but the disc is less 60% now. They found nothing as I complained, anyone has the similar experience. I had new brake pad installed last Christmas, it got handbrake fault after 5000km to Fraser island trip. The dealer replaced disc brake as well at the time, I suspected they have the constant issue with disc brakes rather than I had been towed hard or too much offroad driving as they indicated.
Any help is much appreciated!
Cheers,
Gary

Hi Gary
Just had my front and rear pads replaced at 4 year service with 26600km. They probably could have gone a couple of thousand more so your 40% for 16K would equate to 40K for 100% which is more than I got. But, I do city, stop/start driving so probably heavier on brakes than a country car for example. I understand that the LR brakes are softish from what I've read but they do the job well.

Some pads are soft, are you saying the pads have worn 60% in the time frame. Is front and rear the same. Have they got the "anti chatter" bits fitted (a metal piece). Do you drive with your foot resting on the brake pedal. In one manual I read they recommend changing disks every second pad change as worn disks can wear pads quickly.

My cars just done 45k and had the rear pads done only.
Car will be be in for service after Xmas and we’ll see how the fronts are doing then.
