Anderson plugs for old ARB Dual Battery set-up

Lookout, the 12v novice is at it again.

My 02 D2 had an ARB dual battery set-up done in about 2003/4, pretty simple I believe, isolator switch etc. No smart chargers/dc to dc chargers or anything like that. Cabling to the rear load space with a posifit and aux plug at the end.

My question is, how easy would be to add some Anderson plugs to this system to plug in solar panels for charging the aux battery when the vehicle isn't being used but the fridge is in?

Do I need all that modern tech or can an auto elec just add some plugs?

I’d run 6B&S cable to the rear of the car from your AUX battery or isolator with Anderson plug fitted.......assuming you have portable panels with regular fitted. The Anderson is ther if you ever hook a camper/caravan up.

Slightly better set up is to have your regular fitted as close to the AUX as you can than run cables from there.

No need for complicated setup.

The panels are the 160w Kings panels (https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/adventure-kings-160w-solar-panel.html), with a PWM reg built in. they have a 5m cord with A plug, so a a plug at the rear is actually a good option - should I mount it inside or out?

You could just put it anywhere convenient. I have one just connected and fixed right next to one of my batteries.
I just open the door, plug in and shut the door with the wire hanging out the door rubbers.
If the regulator is on the panel back that's fine. If you have a separate regulator put it close to the battery.

Looks similar to mine. Does your panel have a regulator?
I can actually have solar to both batteries just by plugging in panels to each.
Our camper trailer battery can also have one or two panels connected.
