Any Frigdies?

Hi all,
I am after some advice about my kitchen domestic fridge :cry:
It keeps freezing up in the fridge cabinet.
I swapped out the thermostat with a genuine replacement but no improvement :evil:
It just doesn't seem to stop cycling, just gets colder and colder, opened it this morning and the inside was -4 degrees :x
My lettuce was frozen :evil:
Anyhoo, any knowledgeable guys have any suggestions?
Yes, if interested I can give model no and such but didn't want to bore everyone with my tale of woe!

1.turn the temperature knob to the min setting you may have installed it upside down .

2 check if you have a relay turning the compressor on it my need replacing


3 if above is not working for you call the manufacture and ask for help

Check at the back of the fridge that the dangly part of the thermostat thingy is not touching the cabinet.

Had the same problem on my F&P last week. Frost free no longer. Repair guy came replaced heater element and one of the fans. All better now.

without having a look which is a bit hard over the internet.

when you replaced the thermostat the probe is usually is attached to the evaporator. if for some reason it is not touching (normally there is a small clamp of some sort there) then the thermsotat is not getting the signal that the fridge is cold enough, hence it keeps running.

That is one option the other is as stated above the the new thermostat may work backwards to the old one, so you may have it turned to it's coldest setting instead of warmer.

Is the fridge a cyclic style? because if it has an internal defrost timer, that could also be buggered and it just keeps running.

If that doesn't fix it then you would have to give me the model and make so I could have a quick look at the wiring diagram of one for you.

It is a Frigidaire 410litre upside down jobbie.
Model number FB410F-01 with 'cyclamatic defrost' 8O

It is beginning to sh*t me. Thawed lettuce on my lunch is horrid.
On the w/e it gets pulled apart and if it is a really good fridge that can be fixed, it will go back together :roll:

OK, it's a cyclic defrost.

First up, when the evaporator (the plate in the back of the frig) is frosted/iced, does the ice pattern go all the way across the plate, or is there only partial coverage ?
To really check, do the old lick the finger test and see if it sticks all the way across the evaporator.
If this works all the way, the refrigerant charge is probably OK.
If not, there is a shortage of refrigerant. What happens here is that the part of the evaporator the t/stat feeler bulb touches doesn't get cold enough to cycle the compressor off, causing the frig to run too cold and freezing everything inside.

Yes the frost line seems to be ok, the evaporator gets nicely frosty all the way across and up. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

It also defrosts nicely as well so I assume the heater / defrost cycle is ok.
I fiddled with the thermostat capillary tube again last night, ensureing it was touching the evaporator as the recess it sits into is a fairly loose fit.
I then thought bugger it, lets see what this baby can do :twisted:

So I set it to max on the dial and left it for a few hours. Got down to - 8 but then....when I backed off the knob and turned it to low again, the compressor stopped, so that is encouraging https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
