Does anyone know if its possible to get extensions for the short factory rails or what can be used to support the front section if a longer rack is fitted ?
I dont want to replace the rails i have at this point.

I have a long Pioneer platform with backbone support. You would have to take off the factory short rails but you could reinstall them later. That is what I did.
I also like the backbone because it sits really low.

Here's a thread that may help.

I picked up 6 rhino RLTP legs, 4 for the heavy duty bars i have so will have 2 spare untill i decide on what type of rack to use that will keep my factory short rails.

I just went through this on my new D4. I had no rail at all so searched around for the cheapest alternatives (there are none I’m afraid).

The long rails cost me 1300 installed and then I ended up with RLT’s and a pioneer platform.

I went this way because I have a low garage and couldn’t leave the platfo on permanently.

I also didn’t like the idea that they rivet the backbone system to the roof so you can’t take it off (at least that’s what I heard from a rhino outfitter but the backbone system was way cheaper than land rovers rails!

unless your willing to spend you may need to go with a smaller platform.

Cheers

Lol. The backbone system is not rivetted at all. It mounts into the standard rail holes using bolts just like the rails do. It’s removable.
I know as I own the setup and installed it myself.

I got three different answers from 3 different shops. I ended up with the oem tracks due to the height of the garage - if you can fit them and remove them they be a better look than the RLT mounts, way cheaper than new oem tracks as well

If you want to keep your short tracks... and be flexible with a larger rack/tray... i did this for myself... added shorter tracks at front... Rhino RTS502 Land Rover Discovery 3 & 4 Tracks - Roof Rack World (https://roofrack.com.au/product/rhino-rts502-land-rover-discovery-3-4-tracks/)
