Thanks in advanceCentre diff lock in the lt95?

You can make it mechanical. Make a lever with a bit of channel and attach the actuator arm

Thank you drover81 darned good idea if I can’t get one easilyNo worries - I can take a photo of mine when the sun comes up.

There are a few threads floating about with people who have fitted 3rd party vacuum actuators. Seemed like too much faff for the value, but each to their own.

Hello fellow RR tragic s,restoring my 1977 Classic in Tassie, trying to find a working actuator ....

I'll have a peek in my (very) old box of bits I've had sitting for the past 20 years.
I know I had one, still in the box too.
I'll try to get to it tomorrow and reply back if it's still there(or been disposed of).

Fingers crossed that would be fantastic if it’s still there .

Unfortunately it wasn't.
I vividly remember the box in came in, and why I replaced mine(not knowing exactly why it wouldn't worked).
Mine originally wouldn't lift up, in my '79RRC. I got the replacement and removed the old one, replaced it with the new one.
The only problem with the old one was that the flat guide that the lift switch slides on had been bent at 90° on the underside.
Needed to remove it to see that.
I straightened the guide slider thingie(made of copper or brass or something), and switch worked perfectly. ie. new switch wasn't needed!.

Found lots of other RRC goodies in the storage box tho.
Old and new thermostats, some weird electrical box with leads(can't remember what that was for tho), power steering reservoir filter, old original alternator, and an ICE(or possibly Ignition Developments) Bosch dizzy for a 3.5.
But not the diff lock switch. [bigsad]

sorry.

thank youHere you go - lever is actually a threaded tube that's been bent accordingly.https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2018/03/245.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2018/03/246.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2018/03/247.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2018/03/248.jpg

I noticed a couple of new MaxiDrive replacements at KLR last week.

Hi Hamersly,
I bought a second hand tested one from TRS in S.A. earlier this year. Cost about $110 from memory and works fine. Probably easier than manufacturing something and better to stay original.
Cheers,
Woolly.

I have finally got my RWC and the Rangie is on club plates, but now the difflock actuator has died again. I am reluctant to replace it with another secondhand one as they seem prone to failure. I have seen mechanical linkages on this site, but am wondering if anyone has tried to use a solenoid to operate the fork as that would mean you could adapt the vacuum switch to an electrical one and still have the interior looking original. Any thoughts or advice welcome.
Thanks,
Woolly.

Not cheap but well made by MaxiDrive. I had a look at these;

Centre Diff Lock Vacuum Actuator, LT95 (Maxidrive) - KLR Automotive (https://klrautomotive.com.au/centre-diff-lock-vacuum-actuator-lt95-maxidrive/)

Sold on an exchange basis. KLR gets your old one modifed by MaxiDrive. They have them in stock.

Maxidrive replacement vacuum actuator for all LT95 gearboxes. Suits the centre diff lock, and on all 6x6 models the third axle selector as well. Australian made using a piston and o-ring, these units are easily rebuilt but will rarely wear out. Comes pre-assembled onto the selector fork housing and with a new gasket.

Sold on an exchange basis.

Genuine vacuum actuators are now obsolete

Thanks Ron, that sounds like the way to go. First priority is to sort out an overheating problem though, unfortunately.
Cheers,
Woolly.

I owe an apology to TRS if they happen to read this; the actuator I bought from them holds vacuum (me sucking on a bit of tube under the car) so further investigation is called for. I presently suspect old hard hoses or the control knob thingy on the transmission tunnel, which doesn’t seem to seal very effectively with me sucking on it, maybe the inlet manifold can create more vacuum than I can !
Cheers,
Woolly.
