I thought I's star this thread as now that I own a Freelander 2 I'm going to be quite busy with it over the next few weeks getting the car registered in Victoria.
So far I have ordered a new rear light assembly as the one on the car is cracked and will fail the roadworthy. I tried to re aim the windscreen washer jets and the needle, as recommended in the owners manual broke inside the jet. I now need to order one of these, part number L2002264. Or could I swap the one on the D2 over? They look the same to me.
Cheers

I know, I'm tempted to post in the D2 are and hope the brains trust can help. Like, are the wind screen washer jets interchangeable between the Disco 2 and the Freelander 2? I need one in a hurry to pass the roadworthy!!

I picked up the windscreen washer jet from MLR Port Melbourne and installed it on the car. I lost one of the trim clips that hold the acoustic panel onto the bonnet. Some thing else to buy.

The car has gone in for a road worthy. I know that the rear driver's light will fail. MLR did not get this to Port Melbourne on Saturday. It will arrive today. I'm hoping that every thing else is ok, or easy to fix.

The car has an Anderson plug on the rear on the trailer plug mount. No voltage at the plug! With the engine running or not.

Maybe it had an auxilliary battery at one stage and the Anderson plug was powered from the aux. battery.
Normally they have two large round utilux type sockets - one with a black cap and the other one white. I haven't investigated the the white one on my Fl2 yet but have used the black one which was wired for std trailer lights.

Done 2 in 2 weeks, an Ewok and a FL2.... all access from the top by removing the windscreen lower trim and wipers, the sound deadening and the galv tin secondary bulkhead. Fiddly as heck undoing all the clips and bolts and nuts brackets and hoses etc but after that rotate the whole egr assembly round and up out. Seperate the valve and cooler and fit new cooler with new gasket to egr valve and refit. Sounds horrific but really not difficult just time consuming. Waaay easier than tge Skoda Yeti i did recently...8 hours labour including dropping the front suspension and steering and loosening / levering thr transfer case out the way... bloody VW!!!!😠😠🤕

I have ordered a new fob case, the white paint has been rubbed off with use, and a new battery as the current battery does not hold a charge for long.

The car goes to Hunter and Cuthill for a B service on Monday. They will also look at what I think is noisy rear diff [bigsad]

The noise was from the from transfer case thingy. I'm a bit dissapointed (English understatement) in that I have a sticker saying the car needs a service in 12,000kms or six months. The Land Rover Schedule is 24,000kms or 12 months, unless the vehicle has arduous driving conditions, which is doesn't. Something to be aware of if you are unsure and think the mechanics are pulling a fast one.

So is beach driving.

G'day Guys,
I've been having some ongoing issues with my CAS for the last few months. Every now and again the car would give a big jolt or cut out completely. If you give the CAS plug a little jiggle it would work again.
The problem is with the CAS plug. I had it off and pushed the contacts in a bit tighter and it's going ok for the moment. There is not enough wire there to fit a replacement plug so next time I head down south near a LR wrecker with a FL2 I'll see if I can cut the harness and plug off one of the looms they have.

The Cigar lighter was not working! Cigars! come on. The fuse had blown. I also replaced the overhead bulb in the rear passenger compartment. Driving to the to local auto barn, I noticed a juddering from the front when braking. I need pads rotors and new bolts LR000093, the local Land Rover dealer will be getting a visit for these bolts.

Looked at wiring harness given to me with the car. Never fitted as Hayman Reese TBar
Might be difficult to use supplied brackets as made for LR TBar
Can anyone let me know why wiring has 2 plugs. Different pin configuration. One white top one black ??
Cheers

Black one is your normal trailer socket - stop, tail, right & left indicators & earth.
White one is power outlet - IIRC, one constant 12v and one 12v that's live with ignition in accessories position.

But do let us know how it goes

I changed the front rotors and pads. There was shuddering on braking. Not any more. These are very very similar to the front brakes in a 2008 Passat.

So our Land Rover holding has changed.........bye, bye to our D3 [bigsad]and hello to a new (to us) MY15 Freelander 2[smilebigeye].
We have a D4 for our heavy haul needs but wanted another vehicle more in keeping with our 'secondary' needs.
Living on a small rural property with my frequent need to work away a second vehicle has become a necessity rather than a luxury. Never really thought about a used Freelander until I had a chat to our LR service agent who pointed us in that direction as a possible alternative to the D3.
We did want to stick with the LR brand if possible.
We looked at a number of Freelander's. Some were OK and some were.....well.....a little less so.
After about a month or so of searching across Australian web sites one popped up on a car dealer site in our home state. It looked the goods and as it turned out it had a great service history and low km's. Long story short it's now ours.
Never having driven a Freelander 2 before both my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by it's comfort and performance[biggrin].
Now we need to get to know it a bit and understand how best to look after it so that it provides the longevity and performance we want!

The economy on the Freelander is amazing. Good choice.
