Anyone where to get moldable cable putty, for use as an alternative to rubber grommets?

Dum Dum putty was stuff I was thinking of, but alas it seems not available these days.

modern alternative seems to be 3M Strip Caulk

Electricians use a putty, I think it’s has fire retardant properties as well.......

Although houses don’t go over vibration for 100’s of Km’s

Our mobile auto electrician used some stuff called tacky tape. Rip off the backing, then stuff or wrap. It self fuses. Hack through it with a knife to get it off.

Is it because you can not get in to the location to fit the grommet?

If it because you need something of variable size try “Grommet Strip”

Is it because you can not get in to the location to fit the grommet? Sort of - the cable is already run, and I'd rather not use a split grommet. I think I might just use silicon.

A solid grommet, cut with a knife will seal once installed.
Mechanically it will do a much better job protecting the wire from rubbing than silicone or other elastomer will in a moving vehicle.
