Hi all, first post here, other than in the 'Introductions' section. Thanks for having me!

Bought a TD5 D2 a few months back, had it's first trip shortly after (a weekend camping trip down over the Kowmung, Kanagra Boyd NP), been loving having it. Installed a CDL lever recently, and looking forward to doing a few more bits and pieces to it.

The TC light flashed on a week or go, but went off after i restarted the car.
Alas but it returned, this time with the Hill descent light also and they seem to be hanging around, the come on right away when the ignition goes on (to be specific, they briefly disappear when most of the dashlights disappear, but return a second later).
I've started on the ultra basic suggestions - checked and cleaned the earths, cleaned the plugs on the module.

The lights persist.

From all advice I've read it more or less becomes a guessing game from here on, and if the lights are fixed they won't go until being reset regardless, therefore best next step is to get the system read for faults?

Is that a reasonable reading of the situation?

With that in mind, how are my chances of finding someone around here keen to plug in a nanocom/similar?

Thanks in advance for any assistance :)

Robby.

Hi, provided the ABS warning is coming on and go out(so not missing) there is one fault which is covered by the diagnostic protocol for the TC and HDC warnings on alone: Engine data, Sticking throttle, signal failure, data corruption - which can be the result of a bad contact or a wiring issue on the hardwired data bus between the engine ECU (black plug pin 32) and SLABS ECU(C0504-10) .... is the vehicle manual or auto? ... on autos the TPS used to trigger this fault code more often but it would have had other symptoms too

ah, ok, that's interesting.

ok just checked - the ABS light isnt coming on at all as I turn ignition on (I assume it's supposed to?), so prob just missing/not lighting up.

Probably usual 3 amigos then.

Another question - will TC work with amigos? or does it vary?
I might try to get out for drive this arvo to test.

The error you are getting is because the CDL was deleted in pre update D2's and once reto fitted will throw that error each time you lock the CDL with engine running, the fix is to cut a wire and add a switch.
Should be a post about the mod here some where.

The CDL when it's locked will trigger only the ABS and TC without the HDC so not the case here... in this case it's the 3 amigos and the ABS warning might be blanked ... make somehow to read the fault code and see why the ABS warning is not visible, in most cases it's black tape in front of it within the cluster

thanks for the comments sierrafery and loanrangie.

I do indeed had a CDL lever installed (the only mod I've done so far, but one I am very glad to have, particularly in light of below), but that isn't related, as sierrafery says it looks like its the 3 amigos.

Test drive this arvo suggested that TC isn't working, or at least not properly.

Is this usually the case when the light is on?

In most cases yes, though there is a default where it does work but it's rare

As mentioned you'll need to get it plugged in and scanned for the exact fault
Most likely the shuttle valve fault or a wheel sensor?
Search for the shuttle valve option B repair and if it's a wheel sensor you need to investigate and test some things before determining if it's the actual sensor or the hud?
Plenty of info on here and google about these problems
Cheers Lemo

Thanks Lemo, yep, had a pretty solid google plus read through the good oil.
Looks like there's only one option - get it read.
Kinda hoped to find someone through that might be able to read it, but that's proving tricky (and i'm brand new around here, don't have the networks yet) so might need to find a landy place to take it.

Cheers.
