Hi All,

What is the legal thickness for Disc Rotors on 1992 Range Rover classic before they need to be replaced.

Looking around this forum DBA seem to be a good brand ... and whats everyone's opinion on discs being slotted only or both slotted and drilled.

The Rangie just doesn't seem to pull up as quickly as I would like ..... looking at all avenues.

If you just do slow work then I think plain. If you tow, are in the hills etc then slots. Not ever cross drilled due to cracking.

Good high performance pads (not racing pads!) will make a big difference.

One of the old Rangies from Davis Landys, with air suspension, just about put me through the windscreen the brakes were that good.

Hi All

Finally have time to check rotors on Rangie

Apologies for stupid questions up front ...

I looking at link Justin did is it correct new discs difference between. New (24mm) and minimum before replacement is 22mm .... Is that sound right?.

Is that thickness (22mm) same for solid rear disc??

My rear right measures 12.5mm with Vernier calipers?

I'm about to Jack up the LH Rear and check it

No, the rears are solid and the dimensions are given above.
It is difficult to measure them with Verniers due to the rim which sometimes builds up on the outside.
try micrometer on the middle of the swept area.

Thanks Phillip

I don't have one but will buy one next week

I take it it was the 12.5mm as suggested.

Apologies to poster of that information as I'm on a tablet working on Rangie and it won't let me access previous posts.

First time changing disc pads and surprised how easy it is ... had to do double take to make sure I was working on the right car.

Bled the rear while I was there using simple bleeder purchased from Supacheap.

Worked a treat and pumped fluid out till new colour appeared on both sides.
Currently refitting rear wheels will take her for a spin ... Just cos I do love driving her.

I'll do the front during the week if time allows ... Is there anything additional to the two bleeder in the front that I need to look out for or will it be just as easy.

Discs look in good nick ... Although understand that's not suggesting they meet minimum thickness.
